About the same as the day went. We blearily stumbled out of bed to change diapers and feed every time she woke up or the 3hr alarm went off.

I honestly don't remember, but I suspect it was horrible. I was soooooooooo emotional, breastfeeding was so painful, and I had to feed Xander all the time! It was rough!

Dont' worry - that is totally normal! Our first night was the absolute worst. I found what helped us was deciding in advance who would handle what wakeups, then initiate a "no talking" rule during MOTN feedings. You just have to trust that the other person is doing their best and back off. Plus you can't both always be up at the same time - at some point someone has to be rested.

And during the day, you have to agree to trust each other. If DH wants to try something you don't think will work, just let him. The truth is, no one - not even the 'experts' - know how to soothe your baby. So you just have to learn by trial and error and try everything.

Terrible! We discovered the hard way, and over and over, that he wouldn't sleep anywhere but in our arms. For some reason it took allllll night for us to get. We kept putting him down over and over just for him to scream. Yeah, steep learning curve haha.

Ours was fine, but like T.H.O.U., our parents were staying with us. They were a big help so we didn't have a lot to fight about.

But congratulations on bringing him home!

I watched her sleep the whole night, didn't get a wink of sleep. She was in the NICU for 5 days, so I was used to being away from her when she slept (under lights so they wanted me out of the room) so having her in the same room was a huge change for me, every sound she made I freaked out.

I remember not knowing what the hell to do with this tiny little fragile baby that they sent me home with with no how-to manual. He slept in his swing, and I couldn't take my eyes off him because I was afraid to stop watching him.

With DS first night went great...the second night was horrible!! Haha DD fit in perfectly and we haven't had a bad night yet with her

It takes a while to get in a routine. We had to make a rule that we didn't talk during night feedings or we ended up whisper fighting. We brought the boys home on the same day and the doctors wanted us to continue waking them up every 2-3 hours to eat. We were so tired from feeding them so often that the first few weeks are kind of a blur! I do remember the first few nights I checked on them ALLLL the time. It was hard to go from having a million monitors reassuring me that they were breathing and okay to having nothing.

congratulations! it felt surreal, and i was nervous. the dogs barked every time the baby cried, which was almost all the time, and our building's fire alarm went off. but i mostly remember being nervous, like WTF am i doing???

Stressful. DD had pretty bad jaundice and didn't want to wake up for anything, including food. When we did manage to wake her, it was impossible to keep her up long enough to eat more than a few sips. I spent basically the first three days and nights at home trying to wake and feed her, round the clock.

It was a bit overwhelming the moment we walked through the door as we tried to figure out where everyone was sleeping. We had a packed house since my MIL decided to stay with us also instead of staying at the apartment near our shop as we initially thought. DS felt overwhelmed and was wailing like crazy till I locked me and him in our master bedroom to calm down. After we figured out who was sleeping where, the rest of the night was fine.

1st Hint of Daddy's Little Girl came out that first night home:
We put both babies down together in the bassinet as they had been in the hospital. Baby girl whimpered and my husband jumped up, picked her up and took her into the bed with him. He was such a softie. So when baby boy started to fuss I figured what the heck, and brought him to sleep with me.
