DS broke out in a rash the second time he had peas, but I'm not 100% sure it was the peas that caused the rash. A little background: DS has eczema so his skin is always dry with rough patches and gets red easily. He developed the rash a few hours after eating peas. It was a prickly rash with a few splotchy red areas, but he was also rolling around in his diaper at that time so his skin could've been irritated just from that. He never developed hives, and the rash was still there the next day. I waited a week before I tried peas again per his pediatricians recommendations, and I noticed the same thing happened again. But really....whose allergic to peas?
Did your LO's food allergies present like this or was it more obvious?

R also had a red, splotchy rash all over her body when she had milk protein formula or soy formula. We had to switch her to Alimentum. Sounds like an intolerance or allergy in my (non doctor) opinion.

So far DS has only shown an allergy to peanuts. That was not fun! I gave him a little bit of peanut butter for the first time when he was 12.5 months old. Within 10 minutes his lips and face were swollen big time and his arms, legs and torso were covered in red splotches. Fortunately he had no respiratory or GI distress, but we took him to the ER and they gave him a shot of Benadryl to make the swelling go down. He has eczema, too, so it's hard to tell with less obvious symptoms if it's a allergy to food or just eczema.

LO is allergic to bananas! Not very common at all. And it's just a total pukefest

LO got a rash on her trunk the second time we gave her avocado and a bright red rash on the chin the first time we gave her egg yolk.

N can't have milk of any sort. He breaks out around his mouth and chin then gets the worse diaper rash. The only thing that clears it up is Benadryl. I wish everyone was careful about what he is given but people slip up. In fact right now we are battling allergy diaper rash and I am not sure when he got anything with milk in it.

I've seen my LO get hives and get really mucuousy diapers including 1 time with a spot of blood.

@Katrocap: Wow what a scary reaction! I'm glad he was ok! And yes the eczema sure does make things a little more tricky.
@Corduroy: What kind of rash was it? Did LO break out into hives?

@skipper2010: there are some kids who have peanut allergies who have a pea allergy as well (legume family). Are you planning to get him tested?
My DD has a peanut allergy and she presented with hives on her face and neck. She has only had two known exposures at 5 yr old so I don't know what her reaction would be today if she were exposed.

I think peas are actually a somewhat common allergy, although it seems like it shouldn't be!
My LO hasn't had any serious allergic reactions yet, but he gets a contact allergy (splotchy red skin) from cinnamon and lately from tomato sauce.

Peas are legumes like peanuts and soybean among others so it's definitely possible that it's an allergy. Also, eczema is an inflammatory process, have you looked into possible causes for it? Could be environmental or food related...
My first LO had an egg allergy that he has mostly outgrown now at 2.5, which presented as rash and green poop while bf. my second has mspi and is also sensitive to a few other things which we haven't been able to identify as easily, but the milk is an intolerance that causes vomit and the soy causes a rash. -
@skipper2010: no, she didn't get hives from either food. The avocado rash was splotchy with small bumps. The egg rash looked more like the skin was irritated by rubbing. Bright red and no spots, as if we had scrubbed LOs chin extremely hard. DH and I kept asking each other if we had scrubbed her chin.
