Grocery shop with the infant carseat? There is no room if I put it in the cart! 5weeks in and I still haven't figured out a good plan.

Do you put it in the front if the cart where they have the little seat? Ours sort of snaps right into it like it does the car seat base. Then you have the whole bottom part of the cart for groceries!

I could never figure it out either, so I just put LO in a carrier.

I either sent DH with the list or waited until he got home and left her with him.

I did the same as @duckduckkristen. I just wore LO in the Ergo. She's ten months now and probably big enough to sit in the cart on her own, but I still wear her!

Now I wear the ergo, but when he was taking up the little top part of the cart with his seat, I would just figure out how to pack the stuff down in the big part more efficiently. (For me, this meant doing my groceries in reverse so that I ended at the vegetables and fresh produce so that soft stuff would be on top).

PLEASE BE CAREFUL putting the infant car seat in the top of the cart. It may seem like it sits/clips on there but it is not designed to do that and it may not be safe. It makes the cart very top heavy and the entire car seat can tumble out if you hit a bump. There have been many cases of babies falling due to this.
If you shop with the infant seat, place it in the actual buggy/cart part of the cart.
Other alternatives is baby wearing so you can push the cart or just shopping with the stroller.

If the carseat can't fit nicely on the cart, I will just wear her in the moby or the ergo. It gets a little tricky when you need to bend down to the bottom of the cart, but you make it work.

I don't, is the simple answer. Either my hubby goes on his own or we go together with one cart for the baby and one for groceries. But these days I tend to do many small trips on foot with the stroller, it's good exercise for me to walk and LO gets some fresh air so we go pick up around 10 items most days and we haven't needed to go with the car in a few weeks.

@Thehistoryofus: That makes total sense! When my brother and baby cousins were born, that's where we put them when we went grocery shopping, and where I plan on putting our future LO's when we go grocery shopping. I'll have to keep this in mind!

@Thehistoryofus: is right. Putting the seat in the top is dangerous. A 3 month old died from his seat falling out of there about a year ago.
I would wear her in her sling most times until she got big enough to sit in the basket. Occasionally I would put the seat in the big basket and put the groceries around her if I needed to, but 9 times out of 10, I wore her

If I know the place has larger sized carts, I put LO and her car seat in the actual cart part of the cart (where you put the food usually); and just put more items in the little seat part up front.
If the grocery store only has little sized carts that the car seat doesn't fit into well; I just wear her in the baby bjorn. LO likes being in the bb more while grocery shopping - she loves the market and looking out at everything.
