My birthday is on a Saturday this year and I want to go out for dinner with my friends. DH works nights and weekends October through April and it's been a loooong winter of solo-parenting. I miss my friends!
I decided that since my birthday is on a weekend, I'm going to get a sitter and do something fun.
How do you celebrate?

Depends on how I'm feeling. Usually I want to go out or ask DH to make my favorite meal. But last year after helping make and clean my own birthday meal because no one else offered to help DH I decided dinners out from now on. Or keep my birthDAY celebration just our little family.
Cooking and cleaning for other people on MY birthday is bs.

I usually hate my birthday but this year, it was pretty good! DH surprised me with a gift (we don't usually do gifts for bday) and a dinner out. D1 was super excited to sing "Happy Birthday" to me and all in all, it was great!
In general, I like quiet and relaxed. No big parties.

My bday was last month and a friend hosted tea at the ritz with a bunch of girls! I took my bday off and got a massage and a pedicure and went to the mall. DH took me to dinner that weekend. I bought myself stuff-yoga pants and makeup. Birthdays are awesome

Happy almost birthday!y husband almost always has a huge conference for work on my birthday so now I take the day off, go to Barnes and Noble and pick whatever I want, meet a friend for lunch and cupcakes and then spend the afternoon at the spa. If he is around I have dinner with my dh but otherwise make arrangements with a friend. It is a lovely calm day!

This year nothing. Worked and came home like every night. DH got home the next night and didn't make me dinner. I was bummed.

I'm pretending my bday doesn't exist this year. I'll be 30 & I'm knocked up so I can't do any of the fun things I had planned in my head.

One year DH gave me money to get my hair cut, colored and styled and my nails done, then my mom took me out to lunch and finally dinner with DH. His gift was $100, then taking me to the mall to let me buy whatever I wanted. That was one of my favorite birthdays ever!

I used to get together with friends, but now I prefer just to do something fun with my little family. One year DH took off work and took us to the fair, that was nice.

My birthday is the 16th and I'll do a family dinner or brunch with my parents. We also go out with my in-laws bc my MIL's birthday is 10 days before mine so we just do a joint birthday meal. I'm most excited to celebrate with LO...she been talking about how it's almost my birthday and we'll get cake . I'll probably also do a mani/pedi or shopping trip with my girlfriends.

My husband always takes me out to dinner and plans a little something. Some years it is nothing "special" like dinner and a movie (although the fact that he takes the reigns on planning makes it awesome IMO), and some years it is a bit different like horseback riding or a massage or he'll find something special for us to do. This year we did a couples massage then dinner and then a special screening of The Shining-- which was so awesome to see on the big screen! (my birthday is right before halloween and I 
horror movies)
