We use Bona and love it! No streaking!

We use a steam mop!

If the whole level needs cleaning, I use our Scooba (Roomba for hard floors). If its just spot cleaning, I use a Wet Jet like thing, but manual, so I just put on a wet towel that I buy in packs.

I use a regular cloth mop and a hot water-white vinegar mix. It works really well and I feel good about it when DD is licking the floors...

We have laminate floors and I currently use floor wipes - but I want a steam mop so bad!!

We use a vacuum or dry swiffer and then use a swiffer with the wet cloths. I really want a wet jet though.

Swiffer vac and then Bona.

Sweep (or vacuum once we buy a new one), and spray mop with vinegar and water. Might add some lemon juice or something sometimes.

Vacuum then Bona. Once a month, we'll polish with Bona also. Makes the floor look awesome!

@Foodnerd81: I have the Bona mop that you insert the spray solution in - similar to the newer swiffers.

It comes with a washable microfiber pad - you spray then wipe with the mop - cleans VERY well - haven't ever used it as a polish!

Also I started using the Bona on my tile floors (tile cleaner) and love that as well!

Swiffer dry first to clean up dust/hairs, then the swiffer wet jet for wood finish. I don't like the swiffer wet cleaning pads, I prefer the wet jet that sprays the solution onto the floor.

@Foodnerd81: I've heard from several people that steam mops are actually bad for wood floors because they get them too wet, so we switched to the Bona system.

Per Consumer Reports:

"Manufacturers indicate that their steam mops can be used on various hard floors, including vinyl, tile, and sealed wood. But all the tested models left residual moisture, some more than others. A wood floor that appears sealed might have crevices where water can seep in and cause damage. Also, some wood finishes or older waxes might haze over. Check with the manufacturer of your flooring to make sure a steam mop won't void the warranty."

I used to use a spray bottle with the Bona solution and microfiber mop, but recently got the system and it works really well!

I worked in the hardwood floor industry for years. We exclusively sold Bona products.

To everyone using steam mops and swiffer, you're making me twitch. It's the worst thing you can do for your floors it essentially strips the stain/sealer/wood.

At the very least, use a dust mop and vacuum.

I vacuum and then use Armstrong hardwood cleaning spray & a removable pad mop. I love the Armstrong spray. They look clean, but not too shiny - I've tried some cleaners that make them look straight up polished & they're too slick. .

@Andrea: in general, it can damage your floors. It pools the cleaning solution, which can damage the floors in general, and leave them looking dull. You shouldn't clean with soap and water or vinegar for the same reasons.

You should only use a cleaning method prescribed by your installer; if you don't follow the directions, it can void your warranty on the flooring.

Eta: you don't want to use things like Murphy's oil soap, either.

@Foodnerd81: they color is the stain! That can be stripped (professionally) and restained another color, if you ever wanted to.

I know about the bona system because we sold them exclusively & I knew our rep pretty well (as in, he came to my wedding).

We sold their professional systems, which is a little different than their consumer systems. I have this exact one here at home, but use their laminate version.
