Do you cook on the stove, in the oven, or in the microwave. We were just putting it on a plate with a lot of paper towels and microwaving it but the last time we did that, the plate exploded afterwards. If you microwave, do you use a specific tool like a rack or a bacon tray that you would recommend?

We fry it in a pan, but if there is a bunch of us at my parents house for the weekend or something we make it on a pan in the oven.

Oven. It's the easiest and cleanest and it still tastes as good as it would in a pan on the stove top.

I always use the oven - I find it to be the easiest. I’ve never heard of using the microwave!

Oven! It’s so easy. My husband thinks it tastes different but he’s crazy, it’s the same as the stove and so much easier to clean up.

Oven! The trick to great crispy bacon in there is putting it in a cold oven, THEN turning it on. Cooks perfectly!

Microwave....plate cracked in half years ago so I do 2 paper plates now.

The only way I like it is in the microwave! Nice and crispy. I use a plastic plate with a paper towel. I figure the paper towel shields us from the horrors of the plastic, haha

We use Makin’ Bacon microwave dish, which allows the fat to drip off. My favorite way is baked in the oven.

For all of your that cook bacon in the oven, isn't the grease ever a problem? I tried cooking a batch in the oven and set off the smoke detector when the grease started smoking.

Oven- it takes longer but it’s always flat an perfect. Usually on a 1/4 sheet pan at 350-400 for 20-30 minuets- flip 1x
Last night I cooked in cast iron stovetop and it was unevenly cooked and made a mess.

I don't cook and serve bacon as a side dish, the only way I really use it is as a flavoring, so I typically slice it into matchsticks and fry it. Then I drain it on paper towels.

@kiddosc: we put down some foil on the baking sheet and we've never had a problem. I'll admit before dh I cooked bacon on the stove top... but he did it in the oven and it always came out perfectly so now I do it that way too!! so much easier and we dont' even flip ours when we make it.. so I just put down a sheet off foil, lay out the bacon, turn on the oven and then I can make eggs, pancakes other things while the bacon cooks. Always works out great for us.

I like the oven method but it takes too long (I don't plan ahead
) and I didn't like the clean up since I used a rack. Plus, while I use foil to cover the sheet, there was still a ton of clean up. But I might be doing it wrong. I cook it in a pan. I put the strips in a cold pan and add a little water. Then turn the heat no higher than medium. The water helps to render the fat and also draws out some salt if the bacon was super salty. The water will boil off and then the bacon will crisp.

@kiddosc: I’ve never had the grease smoke before. Are you putting the bacon directly on the rack with the drippings falling? I lay my bacon out on a foil-lined sheet. It does sit in the grease but you just use paper towels like you would with stovetop bacon.

@kiddosc: I think if you are putting it into an oven that’s already hot, it will smoke more. I always put bacon on a parchment sheets and put it into a cold oven and then turn it to 400 and cook until crispy. No flipping, no turning.

oven -- it is so much easier than a pan, and it comes out more consistent, in my experience!
We could never quite get the microwave version to work for us, though it is the only way my mom cooks bacon.

Oven. We use an oven-safe cooling rack inside a sheet pan with a tall lip. Put it in a cold oven, put it at 425ºf and set the timer for 18 minutes. When using strange/unfamiliar ovens I always start checking at 16m and allow that it might take up to 24m.
