I usually wait for my husband to get home and deal with the dead body. I think he flushes them down the toilet? I could handle putting it in a Ziploc and then in the trash, but I could never just throw it in the trash as is because I'm paranoid about cockroach eggs hatching and then hundreds of roaches being born. Ugh! I'm scaring myself just thinking about it.

Hate them!! DH makes fun of me...I use the spray method--spray the heck out of it with Lysol until it can't slither away. Just when you think they are dead they some how cling onto life! I'll pour Bar Keeper's Friend on it too for good measure and some bleach! Then I usually get the dustpan after a while and dispose of it. Then mop/bleach down the area...no idea if it helps, but it gives me better piece of mind.

Slap it dead with a slipper and then use a ton of paper towel to grab it and then throw in trash. That's what we used to do growing up on the islands.

@erwoo: that's what we do on the island too! I only spot them once a year though.
