I think fur coats, wraps, etc are beautiful and feel amazing.
I'm anti the process though and don't own any fur!
No faux fur either.
I saw a PETA video many moons ago and was really traumatized.

No fur for me either. I don't think it's ever cold enough for it in TX.

I like to wear my dog around my neck sometimes...That's as close to wearing fur that I'll ever be.

I have no problem with fur, it's beautiful and very functional for a Canadian winter. Im in the southern most part of Canada so it's doesn't get very cold here, but when my sister lived in Ottawa she wore it often to keep warm. To me,anti fur should be anti leather too..... What's the difference?

I don’t support or buy any products where torturing animals or people is part of the method of production.

I have two fur coats that I love because they are beautiful and super warm. But they were given to me by my grandmother and purchased by her long ago. I don't think I'd ever feel comfortable buying a fur coat, but I'm also not going to not use the ones I have. (Although I don't use them at the moment because I moved to TN but I will be taking them back from my mom when I move back to Mass!)

I used to be very anti-fur, I lived in Southern California so there was no practical use for it at all. Now that I live in a much colder climate, I'm surprised about my new attitude -- don't get me wrong, I'm not about to buy a fur coat anytime soon but I am eyeing a lambskin rug for the baby.
My plan is to buy it for the stroller/pram. It's soft and warm (plus babies sleep outside in the winter here). I would have never thought I'd buy any loose animal skins for myself, especially not for a baby but it's pretty practical around these parts.

I don't know enough to be anti (I refuse to watch anything on the processing of it) but I'm not anti other people wearing fur. For where I live, it would be ridiculous to have fur, I'd get to wear it like once a year.

I don't have any but I don't know if I'm anti-fur. I have had a couple vest with faux fur but that's it. Never really thought about it and refuse to watch Peta videos. I understand the message they are trying to get across but think the way they go about it is a little too intense for my liking!

@Crumbs: Where do you live? And why do babies sleep outside?? I'm very intrigued by your post!

I love the smell of freshly licked cat fur (strange I know). Also love fur if it is on the animal which God placed it on; don't like when people wear fur.

I don't own any fur... well besides fake fur like on stuffed animals. LOL. I don't think I could ever buy or afford real fur.
Although, I did eye some really cute (and expensive) UGG boots when I saw them in the store. What's the deal with them? They are from sheep, right?

I like the softness of fur, but I don't really like the look of a fur coat. I guess you could categorize me as ambivalent.

Indifferent - so I said other. I don't think that it's really "animal abuse" so I'm just "eh" about it. But I don't wear fur or necessarily care for the look of it, so i wouldn't say I'm a fur-lover.
@Crumbs: oooh I love lambskin rugs! soooo soft.

@prettylizy: The difference is that leather is typically made from the skin of cows that are already being slaughtered for meat, so the animal isn't being killed specifically for the leather. It's a by-product.
Fur is generally what the animal is raised and then killed for.
I think that's why people feel differently about the two.

Real fur belongs on the animal born *wearing* it!
But I love the look - bring on the faux fur!

@Arden: thanks for the info, I wasn't sure about the difference. I honestly still feel pretty meh about it though. Killing for eating or wearing is still killing.

@prettylizy: I do agree there. I'm a vegetarian. But I'm not going to freak out over fur, I just don't wear it. If other people want to, that's their business.

@Arden: lol! Clearly I'm a meatatarian. I think to each their own is the best policy.

@Crumbs: we have a baby lambskin too. It's super soft and keeps babies dry in summer and warm in winter. Washing is a bit of a PITA though. In Europe, sheep are raised for food (yogurt, milk and some meat in addition to cheese) so it's a by product as well, which makes me okay with using it.

@looch: Very good point! I never really gave it much thought but knowing this makes me feel better. But then again, I do wear UGGS and have never had any qualms about it!
@MamaMoose: I live in Sweden. I honestly have no idea why babies sleep outside but it's the norm here. People claim babies love it and it makes them sleep better (even during the dead of winter)! I only plan on doing it when the weather's nice and cool, not cold. So the lambskin is only really for walks.
But when it's time to put the LO into daycare, they'll have the all the kids nap outside in their pram, regardless of weather.
