I would definitely consider it! I'm open to pretty much any path to starting a family...

@FliegepilzHut: my doula is currently in the process of becoming a surrogate and I think it is so amazing! Her whole family (she has 4 children) has such love and respect for the couple they are helping and it's an awesome journey to watch!

I doubt it's something DH and I would ever have to seriously consider since I don't have any IF problems. I think it would be hard for me. I would probably be really jealous. I want to experience pregnancy.

I'd be open to it, absolutely. But before we got to much intervention, we decided adoption was our road.

I'm totally open to it, but more concerned about the costs & legal issues associated with it.

I think it's amazing! I couldn't be a surrogate because it would be too hard on me emotionally, but I commend women who do it. I think it's a wonderful option for women who have issues with carrying to term.

@FliegepilzHut: I think my aunt had told me that it cost my cousin 100-150k to have her son through a gestational carrier. Because of that, their son is an only child.

Right now, I still think it's possible for me to get pregnant through IVF. If IVF doesn't work, then I would really have to have a difficult talk about using our eggs and sperm to have a child.

I think my next step would be embryo adoption.

Before my IUIs and now IVF, surrogacy wasn't something I thought about. I think it's even more expensive than IVF and adoption because you have to have the funds to pay for medical insurance & bills for someone not related to you. Also, pay her an income to be a surrogate. Then add on the pain of seeing her get pregnant and you can't. Oh, and let's say I ask one of my sisters be a surrogate, I wouldn't want any strings attached. Would want them to dangle it over my head and cause drama. So which is why if I had to resort to surrogacy, I would pick an unrelated surrogate.

ETA: As you can tell, I really want to be pregnant, at least, once.

If my sister couldn't get pregnant, I'd absolutely do this for her.

Absolutely on both fronts. I want to be a gestational surrogate (no biological connection) as soon as my family is complete. I know how hard infertility can be and would love to help another family make their family complete. My first pregnancy was super easy and this one isn't too bad so far.

I would probably adopt before using a surrogate. But I have actually thought I might want to be a surrogate one day! That seems like such an amazing gift to give.

I think it is awesome and I would totally do it (I.e. Use one) if necessary.

I actually have a friend who is currently looking if anyone is interested. She has one LO but he was born super early and her doctors said she cannot carry another baby. She already has frozen embryos. Message me!

I think it's a great idea. We likely couldn't have afforded it but luckily it never came to that. I think I would become too emotionally connected to the baby to do it myself but I applaud those who do. What a great gift! When we were struggling with IF my sister said she'd carry a baby for me if I ever needed it.

Had IVF not worked for us, surrogacy is something we would have considered as a next step. We have friends who had their twins via gestational surrogate; she had cancer and was unable to carry a child. Another friend was a surrogate for a friend of hers and carried twins. She has said she would consider doing it again. As much as I hated being pregnant, my sister is someone I would consider being a surrogate for if the need arose.
