It's one of my favorite proteins, it's so flexible to cook with, and so healthy because it's a fermented food. Oh yeah, and so tasty! But I'm vegetarian, so I might be biased. What do you guys think?

I've never tried it! But I'm intrigued! I'm not a vegetarian but I love dishes that use tofu instead of meat.

@mrs. wagon: it is so good, but cooking with it can be a slight learning curve! If you can, it's nice to try at a restaurant first!

We eat it often, actually. I use it in salads, to replace bacon on sandwiches, etc. We're not vegetarians, but only cook meat a few times, per week.

@MoonMoon: I'm definitely intrigued! What does it taste like? Is it tangy? That's all I can picture when I think fermented! (I'm korean so I'm no stranger to fermented foods)
Hmm... I wonder if I could get Wagon Sr. to come with me to a vegetarian restaurant!!

@mrs. wagon: it's not tangy! I'd describe it as...nutty? It takes on flavors pretty well.
@deerylou: mmm, I love tempeh bacon...your comment is making me want to make a batch.
@autumnlove: oh no!

I really like it, but I rarely actually eat it, strangely! Maybe because I don't know how to make it? And it isn't on restaurant menus as often as tofu...But this is making me think about it, I need to get some! /

@nana87: I think the best tip for cooking it is to cut it up and steam it (in a steamer basket or the microwave) first. This takes away the bitterness some people sense, and makes it ready to absorb marinades. Then, roast, bake or stir fry!

I love it when it's cooked well, but have never gotten the hang of cooking it myself.

During my first trimester we had someone staying with us who was vegan and eating it all the time. The smell made me dry heave and sometimes throw up in my mouth a bit. Most of my other pregnancy aversions I've gotten over but I'm not completely over this one.

I love it! It's one of the things I really miss on my mspi diet. Cheap and tasty!

I think it's gross and has a weird texture! And it's soy based, which is a big negative for me.

I like it when it's cripsy. Just chopped up and mixed into things is not appealing to me. My husband isn't a fan, so I can't think of the last time I ate it.

@Maysprout: I feel this way about horseradish-took me a long time to get over my morning sickness aversion to it-so I hear ya!
@Happygal: crispy is so good! Sometimes I like it chopped up, but it had to have really good flavors.

@JessKas: @MUI831: I would really miss tempeh if I had allergies...more so than tofu!

Yummy but I don't eat it all the time. I don't think my wife likes it.
