Anniversary parties are OK but vote renewals seem attention grabby.
I definitely assume a marriage is on the rocks if there's a vow renewal.

My wedding was a disaster. We were young and poor and so we had to deal with a lot of family expectations and it was just very difficult. I love my marriage and loved my honeymoon but my wedding triggers a lot of negativity for me. So I would do a vow renewal for myself to mimic the elopement we always wanted! My dream is to have an elopement in Gretna Green Scotland since it is the place where floozies run off for quickie weddings in Jane Austen novels. My husband wants to do Scotland for our 10th (he wants to go to the British Open) so I'm hoping we can make it happen. Right now we have two years to save up!
ETA:. I wouldn't invite anyone else obvs.

I've been to one. It was after four years of marriage and that was when I was in high school, so now they have been together for over 15 years.
I would like to have one for our 10th anniversary next year, but it would be private. We wanted to get married in our college town but my parents said no and we got married in my hometown. So it would be awesome to renew our vows in our college town and also take nice pictures in the style that I wanted but didn't get the first time (we were young and poor).
