DS needs a swaddle to STTN. If it comes undone, he's awake.
Although I use my A&A blankets for everything under the sun, I have actually never used them for an actual swaddle.
My son can give Houdini a run for his money...so how shall I proceed?
The swaddle blankets I have with velcro are awesome but even those aren't tight enough for him some nights...and he's only getting stronger, God bless him.

Do a double swaddle with the AA blankets!

I agree, double swaddle, then we would put a swaddleme over top of that. @mrspen just did a post about it, we did the exact same time.

We didn't have much luck with the A+A blankets and switched to the miracle blanket and haven't gone back since. I think the A+A would have worked for us if I had seen the YouTube videos on how to double swaddle earlier on. Since the miracle blanket works, I'm not looking to switch it up
So, I guess I'm saying try the double swaddle!!! -
I use the Dudu method from happiest baby...and another swaddle on top to double it up snugly.

OK---regarding the layering of swaddles: what does LO wear underneath all of that? I am scared of overheating.

@TurtleDoves: I wouldn't worry much with AA blankets since they're quite breathable. Just a normal cotton layer, most likely.

@matador84: I have been doing the dudu method since he was born...but somehow that kid just kicks and squirms his way out. I come to his crib after 15 minutes of "sleeping" and he's wide awake with his hands in the air. ahhh

@Mrs. Yoyo: So, should I have him in normal clothing underneath or should he be in just a onesie under both of those swaddles? (I'm talking about putting the Velcro on top of the a&a or vice versa)

We did a double swaddle with a receiving blanket as the bottom layer and then an A+A blanket overtop. DS usually wore a short sleeved onesie and socks underneath. We swaddled during summer and had the ac set at 72 degrees. DS got hot easily and didn't like to be warm. We did try no onesie underneath but I think it made him hotter almost because his arms would get so sticky against him he would be sweaty when he woke up.

@TurtleDoves: Did you see @Mrs. Pen's post about swaddling? She declared that her son was a Houdini when it came to swaddles. : ) It was a recent post.

@TurtleDoves: I think we generally did a onesie in summer/fall. I might add cotton pants or just do a thin cotton sleeper since it's winter, plus the double swaddle method really doesn't cover the legs, as you can see from the video.

In the summer we did just a onesie under the double swaddle, or even just a diaper on really hot nights.

@creativemomma15: Yeah, good idea. I think i'll do socks as well just because the double swaddle won't do much for his toes, even with the normal swaddle over top.

We do the dudu method with our A&As over a swaddle me, or do the dudu with two blankets, one on top of another.

Miracle Blanket! It is so much easier than dealing with double swaddling. When LO started breaking out of that we moved to the Woombie. It was time to swaddle wean by the time she started breaking out of that.

@Weagle: I loved the Miracle Blanket too ... but by 3 months he was too long for it, gah. So that's why we turned to the double swaddle. We also tried the Woombie but he hated it, sadly.

Ok so it's 1am....double swaddled: broke out. Layered swaddled: he broke out. I just got a BRU gift card so in taking it and getting a miracle blanket tomorrow. He's asleep but that's only because DH tied his A&A blanket into a knot:) I don't want to keep doing that all the time

@TurtleDoves: I used an A+A blanket to do the Russian swaddle with a folded receiving blanket inside to secure DS's arms. It acts similar to the miracle blanket and is very secure. DS was swaddled until he was 4.5 months old and only broke out 2 or 3 times.
