I have no self control either. I had a rash on my belly after I gave birth and I scratched SO much my skin's all discolored now. I used to go to bed with my arms bound (think swaddled). HAHA

@artbee: Yep. For me, daytime was fine. I couldn't control what I did at night while I was sleeping! It was bad. Cracked and bloody skin.. -.-

i'm a pretty big scratcher, too. for bug bites, you can put anti-itch cream on. that really helps. for your surgery, yes - do the oven mitts thing!

I rub two of my fingers together... the sensation distracts me from the itching. It's a pain management technique I learned for my headaches when I used to get them, but I found it works equally well for itching!
