I get an email, too.
I believe the default on your profile is to 'opt-out' of getting emails. I think you have to uncheck the boxes in your profile to get emails.
Maybe @MrBee will come in and give you an answer.

@shopaholic if you go to your profile, and next to you name by 'edit' it has a box you can check to opt out but.. I did not opt out and went to check my wall and had had someone post on there and was never notified! @mrbee help please?
