Lately My baby wakes around 630 or so and coos and chirps and talks to himself. Even though he hasnt eaten in hours. I let him go for awhile and then feed him and sometimes he goes back to sleep for an hour.
How do you know your baby is up for the day?

I keep her on a schedule so I always had her up by 7.

When he stands in the crib. If he's awake but still lying down I wait a little longer.

@cvbee: lol. Well he has been faking me out lately. He will fall asleep at the 630 am feeding but then is wide awake again 5 minutes later. I liked it better when he slept til 8!

@winniebee: I think the faking-out is pretty common at your guy's age. Mine used to fake me out in the morning and even at nap times throughout that awful month or so when I was complaining about and obsessing about sleep. 
Must be that their bodies are trying to figure out the new patterns.
Speaking of new patterns, I think mine just moved to a 2 nap day!

@cvbee: wow!!!! Um Tyler had a 6 nap day. Yes 6 thirty minute naps. Still waiting for him to figure that one out. I can't complain about night sleep though. In his crib for 11-12 hrs with 1, maybe 2 wakes.

Hard to tell sometimes. Usually when she's tired, she'll fall asleep right after nursing; otherwise, her eyes are wide open and she'll be chatty after eating
Sometimes though, she'll seem wide awake and I'll take her downstairs and she'll start rubbing her eyes.

My LO sleeps through the night so she doesn't wake up for the day until she's up. I wait until she stands up in her crib. If she's just sitting up and rolling around, she's usually not ready to wake up fully yet. I've made that mistake and gotten her before and then she's a crabby pants!

She "jazz hands" me in the face, and starts cooing and chatting to herself, us, the cat, the ceiling, the blankets.....

Good question at this age!!! She usually coos at everything when she is up for good. If she is just hungry, she will make her fussy noises. I'm so hoping this weekend she will wake up to eat at 5:30 or 6 and then go back to sleep. She seems to want to go back to sleep after I feed her in the morning now but she has to get up for daycare.
