Somewhere in between -- I don't like the sleeping-on-marshmallows feeling, but mattresses that are too firm hurt my shoulder and hips when I sleep on my side.

Firm. We have the Four Seasons Hotel bed. (Ordered from the Four Seasons). It is truly amazing and we always hate going away because our bed is so much better than anything else we could imagine.

@Mrs. Jacks: when I was a nanny, the family had a four seasons mattress in my room - I LOVED it. it was amazing.
