When you need to switch boobs? Do you move to the other side or find a way to offer the opposite boob in the same position?
My baby usually nurses on one side per feeding but she wanted both boobs tonight...I moved to the other side!

I would move to the other side. Although my boobs are bigger than pre preg, they're still not big enough to offer from the same side lying down!

Sometimes I move to the other side but more often than not I just keep both of us where we are and just lean in a little more so she can just access the other side. It's pretty easy for us to do that and I'm lazy so in the middle of the night it's the easy option

Both! Sometimes I could stay on the same side but twist my upper body down so she could reach. Other times I'd flip us over

I almost always switch us, either move her or move me. We rarely do it though so I might be trickier if it were more frequent.

I roll over and move him over me to the other side. If he was awake enough to demand more, he's awake enough to move

I just move my body sort of away for the bottom boob, and in for the top boob.

When did you girls start the side lying position? We are still getting the hang of BF. LO is 11 days old. I'd love to try but not sure if we can figure it out. Does LO need to be propped on pillows or do I just lay her on her side in bed?

I just leaned over farther so she could get the other one, or sometimes I'd prop her up a touch with a blanket that was nearby. I'm pretty chesty though so it wasn't much work for me to lean a little farther.

I always switch him to the other side. But he only takes one side at a time. I just hold him on my chest and we roll together to the other side.
@delight: I don't think I was able to do side lying until around 4 weeks? Maybe even longer. I don't remember exactly. I practiced one day during the day. I never propped him up. I just laid him on his side and adjusted the angle of my body so my nip was even with his mouth. Then I would grab the back of his neck and shove him onto the boob. You can put a pillow behind you to help support your back. It just takes some practice.

@prettylizy: @mrskc: great thanks for the tips! I think I'll give it another couple weeks then try it out. We are still working on getting a good latch so I better not introduce anything new just yet. I do look forward to this position though!

@delight: I used rolled up AA and receiving blankets to prop her up. We started around 3 weeks!

@autumnlove: oh, good idea! Must try this next time around. I was never able to master the side lying position.

@autumnlove: well I have lots of those so good idea! Maybe I'll give her another week or so and try it at 3 weeks. I just find sometimes its hard to get her to latch right away she keeps popping off and then we have to try again. Takes a couple minutes, usually just when boob is really full. So Introducing a new position might confuse us more but nursing lying down sounds heavenly!
