I have a double electric pump but never liked pumping both sides at once. I hated my pumping bra, and using it at work meant getting undressed from the waist up, so I always just pumped one side at a time so I had a free hand.

I'm sure I lost some milk, but I think I was just used to it, so I'd have a separate let down from each breast. There was one time that I forgot my pump parts and had to run to the store to buy a manual pump. Ugl, that sucked, especially because I really needed bigger cups than come standard on pumps.

Since I only feed my baby from one side at a time, I pump the same way (single side). I'm still able to get at letdown without stimulating the other side. If I need to pump both sides and I only have one valve, I pump one side completely and then start again on the other side. A total PITA, but it's better than teasing both sides (aka, alternating back and forth).

I'm a one pump gal too! It's not so bad, but then again I never tried the double.
