When brushing teeth! Not just for fun. 
They'll learn that from the kids at school, I'm sure. But seriously, how did you teach your child to spit? Or how did they learn? We had friends visiting recently and I noticed their son was really good at spitting out his toothpaste. My daughter, on the other hand. still swallows it. They're the same age.

Our dentist actually told us it was okay not to spit since we aren't doing a fluoride supplement. He sees us do it and tries, but he doesn't always spit anything out.

I wish she didn't know how to spit.
No idea how or when she learned but after a spit lotion facial I'm not a fan. -
In Korea, we always tell the kids to lean over the sink and make a sound like "too!" over and over. The sound forces stuff out of your mouth.

DD1 struggles with spitting at 3.5, though she's very dramatic about trying. DD2 loves making the sound and has the general idea, but doesn't manage to spit much at 18 months.

I usually "brush" my teeth while she takes her turn brushing hers (I brush hers first) so she seems me spit. She makes a spitting sound but doesn't actually spit much out at all. That's why we only use a tiny bit of toothpaste.

I don't know. At first he just made the motion but nothing came out and then one day he did it right.

Dry runs (blowing out air with lips pursed) followed by practice with water. Also, we initially aimed into the shower (bigger target, less mess for me in the event of a misfire since it's easily hosed down with the shower head) instead of the sink.

DS is almost 2.5 and still swallows. He sees me spitting after I brush my teeth all the time, even when we brush our teeth together, but he still doesn't!
