I am going back to work on Monday and have a "test run" with our caregiver this afternoon.
How do you bring your milk to daycare? Do you pre-make bottles or provide the milk in one larger container to be "made" at daycare? I am not sure how much he'll take so I'm wondering if one larger container is better so the caregiver can make them up as he needs them?

My daycare will only take prepared bottles so I sent 4 Dr. Brown's bottles when LO started daycare at 12 weeks.

My daycare only takes prepared bottles. I make 4 bottles which have to be labeled with LO name, what it is (breast, formula, both), and date. You probably should talk to your daycare about their policy, regulations require certain things. Everything that I take to daycare for LO needs to be labeled with his name.

I prepared the bottles at home because I didnt want to deal with them handling the milk and maybe spilling it or giving her the wrong milk first. I felt my Breast milk was too precious to entrust it in someone else care

When LO first started daycare, we sent prepared bottles and then sent a back up bottle (just in case LO was really hungry). She never needed the back up bottle, so we stopped sending it after 3-4 weeks.
Have you been tracking how often LO nurses? The Kelley Mom website has some great calculators for how much milk LO might take in a bottle. That could be a good starting point. Your caregiver can help you figure it out too.

@Meggo5: I prepare her bottles and transport them in a cooler. I don't want anyone dealing with her breast milk! If you're worried about how much your LO eats can you make smaller bottles?

I took 4 bottles with 3oz of breastmilk in a cooler bag each day when she was 12 weeks old.

We brought prepared bottles. There is no way I would let anyone else pour/handle my precious liquid gold.

Maybe it's just VA, but the daycare providers actually have to wear gloves if they give my LO breast milk. So, there is no way they would make a bottle for us.

Awesome advice, ladies! We are going to be I someone's home where he will be the only child so it's a bit less clear cut.
I will speak with her today to determine what's best for her! I like the idea of premade bottles though.

They only take prepared bottles. When she first started, I sent 3 bottles with 5oz in them and sent a fourth "just in case" bottle. She never needed that one, so now I just send 3. They have to be labeled with her name, that it's breastmilk and the day's date.

When DD was in daycare the workers couldn't make bottles so everything had to be sent prepared. They asked that we send the number of expected feedings plus one just in case we got stuck in traffic or were running late. They also let me leave some frozen BM just in case. DS is with a private sitter and I still send prepared bottles so I know how much he is getting, she also has some frozen BM for days when we may need to do a later pick-up.
Both locations are only about 5min from our house so I just put the bottles from the fridge into a cooler bag and then into the fridge at their destination.
