It depends on the day if my daughter (2) will run off to play when we get there or if she will cling fiercely to me. Today was rough because the teacher was running late so we had to go into the "group" room that they use in the morning if needed. I stayed with her until the teacher came and they paraded the kids to their room.

Liam used to have no problem with preschool drop off, but the last 3 times (he goes tues/thurs) he has been fighting back tears when my husband drops him off. Hearing that totally breaks my heart.

LO 1 cried every day at drop off for over 2 years. DH said she always stopped when he left the room.
LO 2 didn't cry until she moved into the young toddler room. Now she cries a couple times a week at drop off.

The majority of the time (about 85% maybe?) she’s fine when I leave and happy. The other 15% of the time I leave to a crying E, which really gets the day off to a crappy start.
We have a routine, and sticking to that helps a lot. I bring her in, we say hi to all her friends, and then she picks out a breakfast/snack and a chair at the table and I get her her breakfast/snack and cup of milk. Then I sit next to her and she (and her friend Amara) “help” me fill out her daily sheet. They hold onto the top of the pen while I write on the sheet. Then I do E’s hair, hug and kiss her and say goodbye. One of her teachers carries her over to the window and I sign her in in the lobby, then go around and wave at her from outside the window. As long as we stick to this routine, I almost always leave with her smiling.

LO is 16 months, he never cried once at daycare drop off until a few weeks ago
Now he is having some separation anxiety...hopefully it stops soon, so heartbreaking!

We are finally at a point where she cries less than half the time. Maybe only 30% of the time now? She is starting to get really attached to her friends there, so once she sees them, she is usually okay. She usually wants to open the door for me and kiss me goodbye. Huge improvement from the 5-10 minutes of screaming that had been the norm! She'll be 22 months tomorrow.

DD1 never cried. DD2 is still getting used to drop off. It has only been a month and she doesn't go every day, like DD1 did, so I think it will take more time. She only cries for a few seconds though.
