I got my epidural at 8cm with Charlie, and I would say it was unbearable starting from 5-6 cm.
I got my epidural at 3cm with Olive, and it was already unbearable then!
When did the pain become excruciating for you?

I got my epidural at 7cm, which was when it was unbearable. But until 7cm it was tough/tiring but at 7cm, it was too much.

I was 4 cm dilated before I went into active labor...it was at 5 cm that they became completely unbearable (and I got my epidural shortly thereafter)!

I was at 0 and went to 5 pretty quickly after two doses of cervidil. The pain was too much for me at 7cm and I got my epidural soon after.

Even though I got an epidural at 4 cm. dilated my contractions never got to excruciating. I had to have a C-section.

I got my epidural at 5cm with Mavrick and it was about time I got it. But for Sienna I didn't have time to get an epi and I'd say they were painful at 7cm.

7 or 8....I pretty much thought my body was going to explode into millions of pieces or that my back was going to break in half and I would die.

I was already at an 8 on my pain scale with some of my contractions when I was only 3 cm dilated! Fortunately, my contractions were still really far apart, so I had ample recovery time between contractions. I got my epidural when I was dilated to 7 cm. At that point the level of pain went up another notch, and my contractions were only 2-3 minutes apart due to having a pitocin drip. I felt like my body was being ripped open, and the incredible pressure with each contraction was just way too much.

I got my epidural at 4cm, but I probably could have lasted a little longer. I just didn't see the point in being in pain any longer when I knew I was planning on the epidural anyways.

Sad to admit, but I was 2cm and it was unbearable for me... I was fine until my water broke and then the pain went to a whole new level. I'm glad I got the epidural when I did because I was starting to feel like I was going to throw up with each contraction.

I arrived at the hospital at 4 cm and progressed to 10 in an hour...so there was no time for an epi. The worst pain was when my son's head crowned. It really is the ring of fire.

Probably 8-9. Got the epidural at 9. It's crazy how intense it was at the end.

I was four when I got to the hospital and thought that was excruciating. It wasn't as bad as six, though! Then I got my epidural and all was right with the world.

I was around 5 cms with both kids when I asked for the epidural. And what a relief that was!
