He usually stays in a size for about 3 months. He's just about ready to move up to 7s now I think!

R is usually 2-3 months. I hope she stays in her 5's for awhile cause I already bought her some boots on sale and she won't need them for 1.5 months yet.

@Adira: ha yeah the only thing I do that for is pajamas! Otherwise it's just too tough to predict.

DS is 18m and a size 7 already. He went through 5, 6, to 7 within a span of 3-4 months.

About 5 months per size so far. She's 19 months and getting closer to needing a six. She's been in five since March/April.

For boots, I always buy a size or 2 up. I hope to get at least 2 seasons of wear out of them. Crocs rain boots, for instance, I prefer to buy 2 sizes up. Her autumn/spring boots I bought in Feb and they still fit (I think it was 1.5 sizes up). Her new winter boots (still in box) should barely be a size up when she wears them.

For summer shoes (sneakers & sandals), I buy in her current size. Or I should say I bring out in her current size because I normally buy ahead when it's on super sale.

We were in size 4s for a long time, but then it's like she competley skipped size 5 and went straight to a 6. There should be plenty of room for her to grow in size 6, hopefully through most of winter. (Fingers crossed!)
