I've only been doing a few inches, but I see pics of babies/kids in tubs that are filled up to their chests...I wonder if LO would enjoy that more (he kind of hates bathtime right now)? but it makes me nervous! What do you do if your LO is in the big tub?

Usually enough to cover her crack or if she's going to be in for a long time, up to her belly button.

I put enough water in the tub so that when she's sitting, it comes up to right around her belly button. Our tub is really big, so I get in the tub with her. We have a ball!

I usually do enough to cover her little bottom. Occasionally if we are planning on a longer play bathtime I'll do up to her belly button but that's the highest I go! She likes to move around in there so I think the less water the better.

When DD (she's 2) is sitting, there is enough water to cover her bum (but not quite up to the belly button).

we still use a baby tub and have it right above his belly button when sitting

Ah ok so it sounds like I am really skimping on the water! Maybe I"ll try filling it up more tonight and see how he does.
@LuLu Mom: LO also likes to crawl around and I"m always nervous he's going to slip and face plant in the water!

For my lo I fill it just to where it covers her legs. For my 4 year old we let her fill it to the little metal circle

I do up to about belly button if its both kids (dd 12 m and DS 3 y) or fill it right up and hop in too for a play if we have time. DD much prefers me to hop in too and so do I as she's a maniac in the bath and I get very nervous

@LuLu Mom: @hilsy85: same. she loves to crawl around! the bottom of our tub is textured though (like, the entire bottom is ridged..annoying to clean) so I just gave up and let her. Now she wants to pull up and stand which gives me a heart attack.

I fill it up to just over his legs --- the hubs fills it up to his belly button, but I don't like it too high since he's a crazy man and crawling all over the tub. but he's fine.
if i get in with him i fill it much higher.

@hilsy85: oh and j has definitely gone under/face planted in the water a few times. sometimes he's totally fine, just looks stunned, other times he cries.

@hilsy85: ugh, yes! or she'll crawl super speed right to the drain, which is set down and not a flat one. so she tries to stick her fingers down there. i'm currently searching for a solution to that..those little rubber mat stoppers don't stay!

Oh man, I guess I do fill it up too high! DH is always surprised with the amount I put in and I swore he's just used to skimping. Hehe
I fill it halfway between her belly and chest while sitting.

It covers her legs. She's 2 and we don't leave her for a second but it still freaks me out.

@hilsy85: have you tried the laundry basket in the tub? It contains them a bit more and gives them something to hold on to. DH fills the tub to his belly button, and spends a significant amount of time telling him that tubs are for sitting

When they take a bath together we fill it to DS2's belly button. When DS1 (4 years old) takes a bath alone I let him have a little more water, like between belly button and nipples.

We have an ikea kids tub in the regular tub. I fill the ikea tub a bit more than halfway. Our regular tub is pretty big though, so it would be a huge waste of water to fill even a few inches.

I fill it to cover his legs and bum. He likes to crawl around and stand up and cruise, so I don't fill it too high.

@hilsy85: we fill it up just to cover her legs. She's almost 12 months. She likes to stand up and sometimes she lays down and rolls around. Any higher it wouldnt work!

@sorrycharlie: We have a textured tub bottom too (hate it for cleaning but better for her I think.) We were having an issue wtih standing so I bought a little suction cup ball hoop and stuck it low so she has to sit to play with it. She loves it and it worked, she hasn't stood up since Sunday when I bought it!
