I think it's more important to pay attention to your child's cues. I think food in general is something that pedis across the globe don't really fully understand or agree on. As an example, I was advised to begin with pureed meat at 4 months!

The virgin gut theory makes sense to me; I guess for me it was more there was no compelling reason to start earlier. They're eating table food for the rest of their lives. I don't think it's that big a deal either way but we will prob wait longer with LO #2! It was just more work and more mess and more diapers. It was also our first bout with tummy troubles unfortunately and made his sleep worse at first!

We started oatmeal at 4 mths and started some purées at 5 mths. R was totally ready. Trust your mama instincts.

I got too excited with my son to start solids-cereal at 4 months (he hated it). I started purées at 5 months and I didn't even realize how bad the constipation would be. It was awful! Waiting until 6 months for dd to try anything.

Pediatrician suggested we start rice cereal at 4-5 months. I tried but he had no interest. Closer to 5.5 months I tried purées still no real interest. It just sits in his mouth and dribbles out. Now at 6 months we are trying BLW. He loves playing with the food, and exploring but not really eating which is fine. I will add he is a big fan of nursing, and I'm ok with it because it is so much easier.

We started around 4.5 months because DS was eyeing our food and seemed ready. It went well, he wasn't eating a lot at first but it really helped with some tummy issues he was having.

I waited until 5.75 months. I wanted to err on the side of caution in case her gut wasn't ready. Didn't want to deal with constipation issues. And waiting meant that she got good with a sippy and water before she started solids (took a good month). That again, helped to keep constipation away.

After thinking more about it, we have decided to still delay until 6 months. I'm excited to try but we can wait. If he keeps acting ready and giving me more signs then we will start sooner!

I started Noah with rice cereal at 4 months and around 4 1/2 months I started adding bananas. I tried carrots but he wouldn't eat it and I had to throw the whole bowl of cereal away I'm thinking next I'll try a little sweet potato. He just turned 5 months this pass Sunday but I'm waiting until 6 months before feeding him baby meats and veggies and fruits. I can't wait to see how he takes it
