We just got our video monitor in the mail today and we are going to mount it on the wall tonight. I tried setting it up on the dresser but it's too low and I can't see LO. How far or close should it be to the crib? Obviously far enough so she can't grab the cords but close enough so I can see her...but I have no idea where to put it! Should I not mount it on the wall at all, and come up with another idea? Any tips are welcome

We have the Expedit Ikea bookcase and set it on top of that. I tuck the cord behind it.

Ours was on top of the armoire, on the wall perpendicular to the crib.

We have it hanging on the wall, up pretty high. I think it's just hanging on a nail.

Ours is mounted on the wall for now. The cord is draped around a thumbtack behind a floor lamp.

We have ours mounted on the wall and it has worked out pretty well excpet for when he decides to scoot as close to the wall as possible and I can't pan the camera to see him very well, such a little butt already

We're struggling with this now since his crib is in the corner of the room. The camera is currently on a low table up against the crib. But he's since discovered it and then plays with it and knocks it off the table and plays with the cord. Trying to figure out the best way to hang it so he can't reach the cord, but it's challenging!

Ours is mounted on the wall above the closet.
@pregnantbee: Your scenario is what my LO does with the sound machine. Despite putting it outside of his crib on stool and a box, he still finds creative ways to knock it over. It's funny, weird, and interesting all at the same time. I'm pulling for it to be mounted to the wall soon.

@cascademom: I panic and also laugh every time I hear a thud...and then I run in to be sure he isn't gnawing on the cord! I've been wanting DH to help hang it for a month now....but we still haven't. Afraid of doing anything too permanent to our walls, and I'd like for it to not look too ugly either.

@pregnantbee: It's funny isn't it. He doesn't gnaw on the cord, but likes to kick his legs at it or reach for it like when we want to encourage him to crawl. It was in his crib before he decided it was tasty and edible.

We have ours on one corner of the crib, and we set her down on the opposite side. It used to work fine, but now she's scooting herself all over the place, so in the morning I can only see her feet. We need to move it now

Ours hang on a nail at the very top of the wall, and look down on the crib from practically the ceiling. We like a full view!

We just bought a cheap shelf from Target and hung it on the wall perpendicular to the crib's wall. I hate that the cord shows so much but it will ok for now.

@mrs. wagon: What do you do with the cord, and where is the outlet in relation to the crib/camera?

It's just sitting on the corner of the crib right now. But now that we lowered the crib, we can't see the whole thing anymore. We need to mount it on the wall soon.

@pregnantbee: we run the cord down the corner of the wall and tape it down with clear packing tape. Both cribs have outlets right behind them so we can plug in right there. We also pull the cribs a few inches from the walls so that little hands can't reach the taped down cord thru the crib bars.

@mrs. wagon: Thanks. Will have to look into your method. I'm also a bit nervous b/c there's an outlet just at the height of the crib mattress. There are two things plugged in right now, but I wouldn't put it past him to play and pull them out!
