Hubs wasn't involved at ALL in the TTC process - I mean, he was involved in impregnating me (haha), but no research, no reading, nothing. It irritated me, too. I had a meltdown and asked the hubs to HELP me learn and not expect me to do it on my own...He's was good at asking me questions about what I was learning but not so much in doing the research himself.

Are you sure he's not researching like you are and just not saying anything? I had assumed in the beginning that he wasn't because he never said anything and I never saw him on the laptop. But actually he was reading up a lot on his free time at work on his iPhone. He knew just about as much as I did!

Oh gosh. I’m pregnant now but my husband probably knows too much. I’m the type A researcher in our relationship and when I’m consumed by something (like TTC) it becomes ALL consuming to me. So while we were in the midst of the TTC process (a little over 9 months) that was my main hobby. I’d pass on all of my information to him (whether he liked it or not lol). There was one time during that period where we went out to dinner with another couple who we’re pretty close to. They had just found out that they were pregnant after trying for over a year and being on Clomid so we were talking about their experience with the process. DH asked if the wife was ovulating before going on Clomid. She just kind of shrugged and said that her cycles had been regular so she’d just assumed so. The conversation moved on from there but once we got in the car afterward DH turned to me and said that he’d come really close to following up her answer with the question “Well, did you have cervical mucus?” but (luckily!!!!!!!!!) he realized that may be taking it too far lol. I created a monster!

Our first LO was a surprise so there wasn't any research there. I am currently reading up about TTC and he asks me the stuff I learn but he has no interest in reading up about it himself.

@JoJoGirl: Haha! I was glad that he’d kept it to himself because I wasn’t sure how they’d react but I was SOOOOOOOO proud of him for even thinking it! It felt good to know that he was paying attention to all of my incessant blabbering

Hubby is only informed about TTC from what I tell him. Previously, he though that just by having sex we'd be pregnant on our first try. Why else were they teaching us about abstinence and condoms (apart from contracting STDs).

He is pretty involved. He knows all about charting, CM, and ovulation. He read about it some, but gets most of his information from me.

DH would rather just be oblivious. actually, that is his request, that yes he wants to make a baby, but that he doesn't want to know about anything other than the BD'ing, that it's too much pressure on him. he will ask me 'how was acupuncture?' or 'when your done with that medicine, how long before you're normal again? like not so crazy?'

it's hard because it's not socially acceptable to talk about, and DH wants to talk about 'once we have a baby', but not TTC, so other than HB, i'm kind of on my own.

@mrs. bird: I googled EWCM once (per a suggestion on HB) and turned my computer away from him... he kept asking "what are you doing?" and I'd say "nothing"... repeat... til finally he looked and learned his lesson the hard way. I will protect you from the parts of TTC i know you don't want to hear about, my love

Mine wasn't really involved at all. Except when I told him it was go time.

@mrs. bird: Ummmm....is it sad that now I really want to see that website and the cervixes??? I think I'm still a TTC nerd at heart.

@mrs. bird: YES! There were a lot of shots of cervical cancer that came up for some reason and I did NOT want him seeing those!

My DH knows the basics or a little more about actually TTC. But when it comes to actual pregnancy/baby stuff, he has been putting me in shock. He's not much of a reader, but he's read What to Expect, Happiest Baby on the Block, and half of Bringing up Bebe. He's fascinated by learning all about this stuff. It makes me feel a lot better than when the time comes I'll feel like we're on the same page, knowledge-wise.

Maybe you could suggest something for him to read? Or something for the two of you to read together? DH likes when we read the same book and we can talk about stuff we learned.

Between DH and I, I am the reader/researcher/obsessive person and he is the easy-breezy que sera guy. He knew basic stuff like I had to take temperatures and OPKs, but BD timing he wasn't aware of (I just told him we'd BD for two weeks straight because that's how it was! lol) and he had no realistic grasp of how early you could take a pregnancy test. He tried to get me to take one at 1DPO!

We got pregnant right away both times (m/c and then Emma), which I'd attribute more to the constant BDing, but he just figures it's because he's a stud lol.

I gave him one of the summary chapters at the end of Taking Charge of Your Fertility after a few months of no luck. In the end we found that the less he knew about timing, the happier he was with less pressure. He was easy, so he told me to be on seduction patrol when the timing was good.

@sweetchic: i think learning about the baby making (aside from the act itself, lol) is VERY different for men than learning about the baby developing after conception. i know for DH it's important for him to DTD just to DTD, not just because it could make a baby, but because that's our time & a part of us outside of making a family. he doesn't want our sex life to revolve around baby making and thinking too much about that part of it ruins it for him. that being said, he is all about parenting styles and loves when i talk to him about baby gear/names etc.

men like sex, too much info/thinking ruins it. women get to be the keepers of the knowledge in the TTC department, think of it as an excuse to initiate sometimes

All he knows is when we start having sex every single day then "it's time". And he knows I temp (obviously). I think he'd be shocked to know how much I know about it... I'm trying really hard to be cool about it because I don't want to give him a complex/performance anxiety.

Sometimes he's like "well how do you KNOW when you're ovulating?" and I say "Do you really want me to go into it? I just know." He does not want me to go into it, LOL.
