DH wants to stop using ours as soon as E realizes we can see him. He's definitely aware of the camera--he stares directly at it sometimes, but he hasn't made the connection that we can see him yet. I'm hoping it will be a while, I like being able to watch him sleep and he's too light of a sleeper for me to sneak in and peek in on him.
When will you stop using your video monitor?

Haha never?? I don't know. I haven't really thought about it. I love being able to easily peek at him sleeping. If baby #2 ends up sharing a room with E then I'll have an excuse to keep it in there

but seriously, my nanny LO - they had it in there past age 4. it was so fun watching her during her "rest," when she quietly played in her room for a little down time - and it was seriously useful cause she would get into some trouble in there!

Lo is 8 months and I still haven't managed to get a video monitor yet, but when I do (eventually!) I plan to use it as long as possible.

I have no idea. I know someone who seriously did use an audio monitor to spy on her teenage sons. I will not be that mom!

I don't have one for his nursery but we're buying one for the playroom. He won't be in there alone usually, but for when I have to check on dinner or use the bathroom, I want to see him without having to take him with me. The playroom is upstairs. So, I'd say like...until he's 5? Until choking hazards are out of the question. He has nothing in there that is small enough anyways but, you know..

when i nannied we used it well past the age of 3. i plan to with my lo as well.

I guess that makes sense to stop watching once they know we're watching. I'll probably stop using it w/ DD when we have a second baby... or when the monitor dies from overuse. The latter might happen first!

When we have a second baby? It's so useful right now. LO likes the swing downstairs where it's cooler so I will put her in it and spy on her from upstairs. Otherwise I would never leave her unattended! I love having a video monitor. Yay technology

DD is 26 months old and knows we watch her.
Before we mounted it on the wall she used to climb up on her desk, grab the camera off her bookshelf and would turn it off!!!!
She's such a scamp!
Anyway, 
we plan on using it... for a few more years! Maybe we'll stop when she turns 4.
