I went off the pill recently and am curious when I should expect AF back (I know there's probably going to be a big range in responses!) I'm not sure exactly which one I was taking, my insurance would only cover the cheapest generic and it changed from month-to-month, it wasn't low dose though.

Not exactly sure if you're asking the right question...I never didn't have my period while on birth control. When I stopped taking birth control, my doctor recommended waiting a month before trying to conceive (using another form of birth control during that time). With both pregnancies I was lucky to get pregnant within the first month of trying (second cycle after stopping birth control).

It's taken 2-3 months for me anytime I've stopped. I have some issues though so it could be related to that.

It took me over a year. I tried some medical interventions. They forced a period but didn't help me cycle on my own. I cleaned up my diet, stress, exercise and got pregnant before things really settled into a solid pattern.

My period kept up like clockwork for about five months after I discontinued hormonal birth control (Nuvaring), then went completely haywire. My cycle didn't settle back in to regularity for just over a year (and I'm pretty sure I wasn't ovulating until that point either). OB induced my period medically and I started taking Pregnitude before I started a regular cycle again.

Maintained the exact same cycle from the birth control pill. Just waiting to see if I continue the same cycle from losing the IUD.

89 days. But ever since, my cycles were 30-35 days (pre kids).

Mine came more or less on time and immediately resumed the longer cycle (36 days) that I had before going on it 1 years prior!

I did not have a period while I had Mirena. I had it removed in March, and got my period two days later. But, I just started my period again, and it's only been 21 days! I normally have a 28 day cycle, so I hope it goes back to normal soon!

I'm pretty sure I got AF when I should, but my cycles were crazy long! But I only had AF twice before I got pregnant

It took me about 3.5 months to start ovulating and then I had long cycles.

@dc yoga bee: I know, it's sort of annoying not knowing quite what is going on with cycles. I think I'm just so used to the bcp cycle, which started at *exactly* the same time, like clockwork, for ten years. It's weird not to know exactly what's going on but I guess I should get used to it
- Of course I have some underlying nervousness that I'll discover after coming off birth control that something has gotten really screwed up while on the pill, but oh well... will be so happy when I get a positive OPK, just to know that things seem to be functioning...

Mine came back at about the one-month mark. I naively expected that that meant my periods were instantly going to be back to normal, but then I got another one two weeks later, and another super heavy one this last time. I'm now on CD23, but have had nine total days with at least some spotting (aside from my period, which was 8 days long) this time around.
But my OPK seems to have indicated I'm ovulating, so hopefully it levels off soon?

I just had positive OPKs at CD15 and CD16, first cycle off the pill, but know from these comments that I shouldn't expect this to mean things will go back to the way they were before the bcp right away. It's super helpful to have a better sense for what to expect - thank you everyone!
