DS is just past four months. 6 months is my short term goal, 1 year is my long term goal.

Coming up on 8 months. My short term goals were 1 month, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months and my long-term goal is 1 year. Anything over that is lagniappe.

I was hoping to make it a year but by 11 months I had to force him to nurse. The day he looked up and laughed at me when I tried, I knew we were cool and we were done. No regrets.

@rachiecakes: you and your little man just seem so in tune with each other
I made it to about 7.5 months with Wagon Jr. before I dried up unintentionally.
We're at 8.5 months with LMW (exclusively pumping) and I'm slowly reducing my supply... supplementing with frozen milk since it's just about 6 months old now.

21 months and while on an elimination diet. My ultimate goal was 1 year. At one year it became clear that continuing to nurse had became a necessity with his diet restriction and needed to be done as long as possible. My comfort level cut off would have been 24 months but he stopped cold turkey on his own at 21. He still gets some frozen breastmilk daily which will run out right at his 2nd birthday.

So far we're still breastfeeding at 6 months - I wish she'd take a bottle, though, because I'm afraid weaning (at 1 year) is going to be a nightmare. Girl knows what she wants and is SO dramatic about it if she doesn't get it!

I'm currently at 7 months with my LO. I reached my short term goal of 6 months. I'm in the middle of a bad sinus infection which has done a number on my milk. I gave into supplementing this week because I just couldn't produce enough. I'll be happy if we hit 9 months at this point.

3.5 months. I wanted to try to make it to 6, but it just did not come very easily for either of us. I actually started exclusively pumping at 3 weeks b/c I was just exhausted. I felt like an enormous failure and still do sometimes. Especially when I have someone point out that I didn't stick it out for him.

9.5 months. I got pregnant again when LO was 7.5 months and could only make enough to nurse him once or twice a day and he ended up losing interest and liking the bottle better, so I stopped.

My long term goal has been 1 year and M turned 11 months today and we're still going strong. Not sure what my plan is after that! The plan now is to introduce cow's milk around 13 months so I guess I'll reassess then!
@anbanan15: you're amazing! I don't know if I would have made it this far with that much dietary restrictions.
@cascademom: something similar happened to me at 9months along with my period coming back. I upped my water intake, took MMP again, pumped like crazy. After about 2 weeks I evened back out. You can do it!

I'm at nine months now and doing well. Dropped a pumping session at work this week since I have a massive frozen stash and hoping it won't affect my supply too much.

13 months. My goal was 1 year, so I'm happy and proud that we accomplished it

@regberadaisy: Thanks! This cold has really knocked me out. My DH has been hugely supportive. I went to the doctor today because I'm just exhausted from it. I'll get my meds by the end of the day, then I'll start to feel better. I have a day with LO tomorrow, so I need lots of energy.

6 months was my goal. I stopped completely by 7 months, my goal was to have enough frozen to last DD until she was 1 (shes 9 months now) so far so good!

Coming up on our 13th month, though she is down to 1 maybe 2 nursing session/ day and it's not on a schedule anymore. If I have time to nurse her in the morning I will, if I miss the morning I try and get one in at night.

We are one month away from 2 years old. I am cutting him off the day after his birthday.

We are going onto 14 months soon and are down to 2 sessions a day - mornings and bedtime. I'm going to continue this until DD self weans or turns two. It's really easy now and I enjoy the downtime with her.

3 months. I was never able to EBF due to having almost no supply whatsoever. After 3 months DD was getting almost all of her food from formula anyways, so I stopped breastfeeding.

2 months, I was exclusively pumping from the beginning. It was a nightmare and my milk hurt her tummy. She was in pain, switched to formula and she was a new baby.

I also had the short term goal of 6 months and long term of 1 year. We are almost at 4 months and everything has gone well, but I have no interest in breastfeeding past one year at this point. We will see, though

Still bfing at 7 months. He's been super distracted lately and tends to bite so I've been offering formula more often. I kind of feel the end is near, but we'll see.

With DD I wanted to nurse for at least 1 year, we nursed for 14m. DS is 6.5m and still nursing strong, plan to go at least 14m with him.

She's 9.5 months and still getting breastmilk. I'm tired of pumping at work but I'll try to keep my two pump sessions up (I dropped from 3 recently) until 1 year. I guess I should just look at the calendar and realize we're really not that far away from one year...
I have some milk stashed in my freezer but it's not much - maybe a week's worth of daycare bottles. I am ready to be done breastfeeding. There, I said it.

4.5 months. I pumped exclusively from 6 weeks on. Quit when he had dairy intolerance and I couldn't stick to a no dairy diet very well.

5 years 2 months with my oldest, almost 13 months so far with youngest. I'm going for a straight-up decade; no interruptions.

12.5 months. He would've weaned earlier if I had let him, I think, but I was bound and determined to get him to a year, and then let him make the choice. He weaned quickly after that. I actually had enough milk frozen that he was still getting a bag of thawed breastmilk in a sippy cup once a day until he was 14.5 months.

@2PeasinaPod: This sounds just like me. DD is 10 weeks right now, and I started EP at 4 weeks. My supply is getting worse and worse. I'm really hoping to make it to 6 months, but I'm doubtful that will happen. It makes it even worse that all my friends/family had enormous success - some even pumping upwards of a gallon a day!! - so they don't understand my problems and think I'm just not trying hard enough.
grapefruit / 4442 posts
She was exclusively BM for 5 months but my freezer stash ran out and now she is supplemented with formula and she still nurses from me.

@swurlygurl; what have you tried to boost supply? http://lowmilksupply.org/ is a great resource for ideas and you might find something that works for you. Have you considered going back to some bf and pumping? Have you considered trying a different pump? Some pumps just don't work as well for some women, and some women respond much better to the hospital grade pumps, especially when looking to boost supply rather than just maintaining.

@cascademom: I am getting over a sinus infection myself. The antibiotics totally helped, but I am still not quite myself. It definitely impacted my supply as well. Hope you feel better soon.
@swurlygurl: supply issues are so frusterating! I'm sorry!
@anbanan15: WOW! You rock!!! I'm so impressed!
My original goal was 1 year, but I am finding it harder than I thought to pump enough for my LO when I am at work. I am still hoping to EBF until 6 months (another 8-9 weeks), but I know that is really going to take some hard work. Beyond that, we'll see... I want to keep breastfeeding in some capacity until at least 1 yr. It is very hard though with work.
Moms who made it 1 yr + - were any of you WOHM? How did you do it?!

18 months and going strong. She's decreased a lot in frequency, but it's still very, very important to her. I don't see us stopping any time soon.
nectarine / 2054 posts
We're at 5 months so far, and I originally thought I wanted to stop at 6 months, but now I'm so conflicted about how long to go for! I never had 1 year as my goal, but he likes it so much and I have to say I like it too, much more than I expected to. I think I'll be sad when I stop. On the other hand, I'm not looking forward to pumping at work, and I really would like to have my body back (and not have to worry about wearing clothing that works with nursing).
coconut / 8861 posts
@78h2o: I'm relieved to get the antibiotics going. I'm hoping that I'll rebound from this. Pumping so little is discouraging. I'm glad that he made it to 7 months before formula was introduced. That in itself is a huge accomplishment. Maybe by next week, I'll feel normal again and my supply will rebound.
