We started trying in May 2011. We found out about my DH's low count in January 2012. We spent a few months working with a urologist and started seeing a RE in January 2013. She found the root cause of his IF in April and we started IVF in August. So we had been TTC over 2 years before starting IVF.

We started TTC in Nov 2011 but had a series of breaks since then. We have been actively TTC for 17 months. I'm on my last IUI cycle but then it's off to IVF in Jan or Feb 2014.

We started trying in April 2012 and were told by the urologist around September that we needed IVF due to DH's low motility. By the time we started IVF it was February, so it took 10 months.

We started TTC in January 2012, I had a miscarriage in October 2012, I had 7 failed IUIs from February - August 2013, and started IVF meds in October 2013 (with my retrieval and transfer in early November).
So, almost two years.

We started trying in January 2012 but I knew I had ovulation issues way before then. I met with my obgyn practice beginning in April 2012 and started seeing my RE by the beginning of May. DH's sperm issues were discovered in April. I had back to back IUIs in July and we moved to IVF in September. R was born in June of this year.
ETA - DH's sperm issues run the gamut - low motility, low morphology, etc. We did ICSI.

@night cheese: Not to pry with info but do you jnow the reason for your failed IUIs? Did IVF work for you?
I only ask as I am coming of IUI#2 and both failed with chemical pregnancies!

@night cheese: @FaithFertility: I'm curious, as well. I've had 2 failed IUIs that were both BFNs. I'm hoping it's a sperm meets egg problem and IVF will help me.

@bluestriped bee: Maybe timing? Do you do back to back IUIs? Our RE does IUI#1 12hrs after trigger and again 36 hrs after......
I'm afraid since we have got somewhat pregnant both times its a bigger issue, but RE seems to think for now we are ok, and should continue IUI a few more times!

@bluestriped bee: I LOVE Greys, and she got PG :)) 24hr seems right to me I've looked up benefits of IUI back to back and it says it really doesn't up your chances soooo who know.....lol

@bluestriped bee: @FaithFertility: Sometimes IUI just doesn't fix the underlying reason timed intercourse wasn't working. I had 3 IUIs (one with at least 5 follicles over 17mm) and none of them worked. In the end the issue for me was that I always started the cycle with one runaway antral follicle out of the group and it grew too quickly/matured wrong.

I started trying in April 2012, went to an RE in March 2013, did 4 IUIs, and we'll be starting IVF in January 2014. So 21 months after starting.

@FaithFertility: I'm not sure how common it is - it's like having a cyst left over after each cycle. When you get your CD3 ultrasound they look at your tiny antral follicles, but I was starting with one of them already having grown a bit at the end of the previous cycle. That was why I would keep ovulating around CD11, but no one realized what was going on until I had several cycles of very close monitoring - after my failed IVF and IUIs. So then the fix was to take Estrace at the end of each cycle to suppress my ovaries like birth control and then letting the follicles develop together, normally.

20 months TTC, but I was 37 and DH was 39 or we might have waited longer.

We tried for 2.5 years before doing IVF. However, I made an RE appt on our 2 year TTC anniversary and decided to do IVF shortly after. The extra 6 months we were unmedicated waiting to start IVF.

We decided to start ttc in Sept 2012. We've had 2 miscarriages, one in Jan 2013 and another in August 2013. After the 2nd one we got the tissue tested and learned in early September that I have a balanced translocation, making it really hard for me to have a healthy pregnancy. We were told IVF w/PGD is our only reasonable option, so we knew by our TTC 1 year anniversary that we were going that route. Met with our RE in early October, and started my meds on Tuesday! Looking like retrieval next week sometime, hopefully some good embryos and transfer in early 2014!

My RE is recommending 4 rounds of each thing. So first we are doing Clomid/Monitoring/Ovidrel and timed intercourse for 4 cycles, then IUI for 4 cycles, then perhaps IVF after that... My diagnosis is PCOS.

DH and I moved onto IVF (w/ ICSI) fairly quickly after we learned I had a blocked tube and DH had MFI. We started trying on our own in September 2011 and had our first IVF in July 2012 - so less than a year, which I know is really quick for most people. Had we been a bit younger (I was 34 and DH 37) we might have tried a couple of IUIs, but our RE didn't give us great odds with those and meds wouldn't have helped us either.

It will be 2.5 (started TTC August 2011) years by the time we have IVF (waiting for new insurance coverage to kick in after Feb. 1st). We went to the RE at 9 months TTC since I was diagnosed with PCOS right after we started TTC.
In April of 2013 I had my HSG. In July 2013 I had my first IUI with clomid, and I have had two more, one in August 2013, one October 2013. Our doctor recommended at least 3 IUIs before discussing IVF. We just recently found out that my husband's insurance coverage for his new job will cover IVF so we hope to start that process once the insurance kicks in!

We saw an RE at my 7 month mark because I had known issues that would hinder us getting pregnant. We could have done IVF right then but we weren't ready yet so we waiting another few months. When we start next month it will = 15 months since starting trying.

It was almost 2 years until we started IVF after starting to ttc. But it was about 4 months after hearing we had no choice but IVF that we started the first IVF cycle. We waited a few months to get our finances together and mentally and physically prepare.

We went to the RE after about 6 months, but I had already been diagnosed with PCOS and knew that my left tube was 'iffy' after an ectopic pregnancy.
Once with our RE, we did a total of 6 cycles (medicated/timed IC cycles and 2 IUI's) before we moved to IVF. Our first cycle failed, but our 2nd -- an FET -- gave us our twins -
We started pursuing IVF about 15 months after trying. During that 13 months, we learned I had endometriosis and tried 3 IUIs. The third IVF round was the charm. I still can't believe we made it through all of that!
