My older girls didn't like it but LO 3 loves being swaddled with a muslin blanket.
How long did your LO like being swaddled?

Ds1 hated it but then we swaddled him to transition from swing naps to pnp for a few wks then we stopped when he sttn in his crib at 11weeks!
Ds2 hates the traditional swaddle too. He sleeps in a love to dream arms up swaddle at nighttime and for crib naps usually.

By 3.5 months she was busting out and could roll over, so it wasn't safe. However, she really didn't need anything after that. Because it's been a hot summer, she mostly sleeps in just a diaper or a onesie.

LO1: Until about 3.5months then another 2 weeks with arms out he then moved to a sleep sack.
LO2: Until 6.5months then she started rolling in it and she moved to a zippy. She loved and needed the swaddle.

He loved it, so much so that when he saw that I was swaddling him, he'd put his arms at his side. My mom thought I was crazy pants, but then she saw him do it.

DD is 12 weeks and we still swaddle her because she'll wake herself up if we don't.

@autumnlove: I think I missed that you had your LO!
DS was over swaddling really quickly, 6 weeks maybe?

We swaddled until maybe 3 mos? Then she started braking her arm free so we did the sack with the swaddle just around her tummy - no arms in...

4.5 months I think! Loved it!
Eta used the halo sleep sack swaddles most of that time!

4 months. She had so much trouble sleeping I was scared to give it up. She really didn't like being swaddled but wouldn't stay asleep if she wasn't. Sleep improved so much when she learned to roll and could tummy sleep.

She hated but then needed the swaddle for the first 2 months probably.. Then she only slept on her stomach so we didn't anything... Then we moved onto the magic merlin sleep suit!

@looch: both of my kids did that too. That's what helped our parents accept that we weren't torturing them. (Swaddling is uncommon here).

It was around 4-4.5 months. He started breaking out of it, so we did a one-arm swaddle for a week or so, then swaddled arms out for another couple of weeks until we just started putting him in a sleep sack.

I think like six months, lol. At the end he was breaking out but not rolling over and sleeping fine. We essentially had no transition. But in the beginning he would totally startle himself awake all the time, and then it became a sleep cue.

16 months!!! She loved it and would continue to tuck her arms in by her sides when we would hold her before bedtime even after we stopped with the swaddle.

DS hated the swaddle from the get go. He likes to have his hands available. He's been sleeping on his tummy since week 2 so we stopped trying to swaddle early on!
