LO is always gassy but so many times I never get a burp out of her. How long do you try before stopping?

I'm lazy, and I usually give up pretty quickly. Sometimes I'll just try for about a minute, and if that doesn't work I'll move onto a diaper change. After the diaper change I'll burp her again, and at that point I usually get a nice big one. DH is much better at sticking with it until her gets a burp.

When I'm breastfeeding her, not long. If I'm bottle feeding, I make sure she gets a good burp out. Sometimes moving her around works better than patting.

I gave it up after the first month! She always threw up if I tried too long and she started burping on her own!

@skibobrown: Ditto.
I gave up quick. lol. She usually did better after I moved her around a bit and tried again.

One minute. Maybe 2.
My friend's Mom told me how she would spend like 45 minutes burping her when she was a baby. I thought that was nuts.
