If you have a nap routine for your baby, how long does it take your lo to go to sleep after the routine? My almost 6 months old seems to be taking longer and longer to go down for naps. And I was just curious what other people's routines look like.

2-15 min? She usually has a diaper change, eats, bottle or nurse (depending on if I'm home or not) and then into her zipadeezip in her crib. Turn on the white noise and close blackout curtains, kiss on the head. She puts herself to sleep so sometimes she decides to squirm around the crib and talk to herself (or blow raspberries, a new adorable favorite) until she falls asleep. She's a good napper (7 mo now) and has been since about 3.5-4 mo. She has a hard time going down the day after I work a 14-15 hr shift but is fine the day after that. Luckily those are only 2x per month.

Currently, 1-2 mins. We go through phases where he cries for 5 minutes before falling asleep.

Goes in phases, but its almost always inconsistent. When thing are "great" I'd say anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. When things are not so great up to 30 min or sometimes i just end up rocking her bc she refuses.

we sleep trained so they always went to sleep within minutes for naps. having trouble going down for naps could be a sign of not tired enough or overtired. but 6 months is when they start being able to stay awake longer, so maybe your lo needs a longer wake time?

@Mrs. Bee: I think we may need to fudge with wake times. She has always gone down well until 4 months when she needed to stop being swaddled, her naps started getting longer about 3 weeks ago and then this week she has taken 10 to 30 minutes to go down for naps and night time and suddenly we have short naps again.
Everytime something goes amiss I always feel like I've done something wrong, it's so hard to remember that she goes through so many changes so quickly!

@msplatypus: yah they change so much the first year! once you have something down, they go ahead and change again.

5-10 min or so. When we're in the house we do white noise, nurse then rock him. Sometimes he'll lie in his crib, other times he won't so we hold him. Stress-free and works for us. He's nearly 7 months.
