3 days which was WAY TOO LONG! I didn't want to be there AT ALL and should've left AMA! Hopefully next time I won't have to transfer from home & I can avoid the hospital all together.

I left 22 hours after LO was born. Couldn't imagine staying any longer.

Too short. 36 hours. Had her Thursday night, all day Friday we had visitors, doctors, nurses, photographers, lab workers, birth certificate people, etc etc. It was exhausting and I didn't feel ready to leave when they discharged me Saturday morning.

@sslm: We were checked in on Tuesday (the day LO was induced/born) and left late Thursday.

Delivered Saturday night, I was released Monday late afternoon, but stayed in the nesting room another night because they kept Cam an extra day due to high bilirubin. We both made it home Tuesday afternoon. I wasn't confident with him yet, so I was happy to stay around people who knew what they were doing. Once we got home, it wasn't bad though.

I stayed the standard 2 days but would have stayed longer if they let me. My doc actually suggested I go home in one day since my delivery was so quick (she didn't even make it in time) but I said no thanks I'll stay the two days. I felt great but was going home to my twin toddlers who did visit at the hospital. We affectionately call them the twinadoes so the hospital was more peaceful than home. Jealous of the days when my mom delivered and you stayed for a week. Of course I might not feel that way if my hospital didn't have private rooms.

Induced Monday, baby born Wednesday and home Thursday.
I think I would have been okay going home 3 hours after. (:

I wonder if some of the difference is that birth center clients often elect to have a doula who offers some post-partum care. Plus, it isn't as though you leave the birth center and never see your midwife again. Isn't it normal to get regular check-ins either in person or by phone from the midwife in the days afterwards?

@hergreenapples: I'm surprised that they built semi-private rooms!!? Every room on our OB floor here is a private L/D/R room.
@Mrs. Jacks: I'm shocked that they were so unattentive with you considering you're in the feild!! My mom has been a nurse for 30+ years and one of the first things she does when any of us is in the hospital is make sure the charge nurse puts on our charts that 'mom is a nurse'.... like a professional courtesy thing I guess?

@prettylizy: my OB put it on my problem list but I don't think these ladies were the chart reading type from my limited interaction with them!

We got to the hospital at 5am on Wednesday, he was born at 1:13pm and we went home at lunchtime on Friday. I could have stayed a week if they had let me!

Admitted around 3am Wed morning, delivered 1:30pm Wed, released around noon on Fri. I think they would have let me go home a day earlier but I lost a lot of blood during delivery so they wanted to keep me under observation for an extra day, even though I felt fine on Thurs.
