Mine is a 1 1/2 carat solitaire and I love it. Although I do want to eventually get a new setting for it with more bling!
How many carats is yours?

Ummm not really sure? I think it's 1/2? I never asked.....I love it! That's all that matters plus he picked it out himself and it's beautiful!

Mine is an antique (circa 1930) ring and I think the total carat weight is .5, I love it!

@lilteacherbee: How beautiful! Would be a wonderful heirloom to pass down.

Mine is .81 carats with pave diamonds on the band (Novo setting). Before we got engaged, I was really fixated on the size and quality of the diamond, but now that we're married, I find that I don't really care about the size. I love that it's super sparkly and that it's a really great quality diamond (not that most people could tell by looking at it or that I discuss it in real life, but it matters to me), but I definitely feel like any more money my DH might have spent on it would not have been money well spent. There are lots of other things I would rather we spend our money on now!

All together, it's about 1.2 carats. It's a halo but the center stone is about a 1/2 carat

@Witz: totally agreed! We ended up spending more on our honeymoon because of that! Beach front veranda suite in Jamaica......definitely worth it!

the center stone is 1/2 carat and the two next to it are each 1/4 carat. I love my ring. I think the diamond is the perfect size for me.

My solitaire is 1.2 carats and I'm getting it reset with a 0.62 ctw sidestone setting. I'll have it in a few weeks... so excited!!

My solitaire is 1.8 carats with some side stones. DH picked it out on his own!

.78 and a pretty shade of brown--only ever seen one the same color and it was like... 78 carats (or something crazy) at the Smithsonian. It was really cool!

My center stone is 3 carats and my side stones are a half carat each so four total. Its beautiful and most days I'm 100% happy with it. Other days I think it was crazy to spend so much on a ring. But hubs could afford it without financing and we still have plenty of savings, put down 20% on our house, etc, etc. So while it was affordable to us sometimes I'm still amazed at how much money is sitting around on my hand.

@MamaMoose: haha awesome! I have a solitaire that's slightly over 3 carats. Your 3 stone must look amazinggg

I don't remember. Its my husband's great grandmas, and we got it appraised for insurance reasons, but I don't remember.

Mine is a yellow diamond solitaire - a little over a carat in an artisan setting. DH picked it out and I live it!

I have a 1/3 ct bezel set sapphire. I wanted something smaller that won't get in the way or get damaged since I am very hard on jewelry. I love it!

My center is .8 something, but all together with the halo setting and wedding band it's about 1.6.
I love my ring!

@chopsuey119: I will admit she is pretty. Mine isn't Tiffany but its modeled after the Lucida with trillion sides. I rarely see anyone with a similar ring which I like.

I have never asked, but I think the centre stone is close to a carat in a halo setting, no clue what the TCW is either.
cantaloupe / 6146 posts
@winniebee: Yup! I guess it means we got a bigger one than we could otherwise afford--it's an antique though, so we actually chose it for the setting and noticed the color when we visited the store. (We bought it after we were married)
@MamaMoose: have you posted a pic on wb? sounds awesome!

Mine is .6 solataire. Probably way too small for some but it suits my hands.

Mine is about 1.2...just a simple solitaire... I didn't want him spending too much money and I never really cared about it. I still don't but if I had to do it again, I'd get a prettier cut (I have a round) and maybe a more antique looking setting...

@pastemoo: yup. I was moose1209 over there and there are pics somewhere in my posting archive!

Mine is a 1.5 carat round solitaire. Its currently sitting in my jewelry box because my hands are too swollen to wear it!

My solitaire is one carat and the halo and stones on the band are another carat. My husband designed it all by himself. He was able to get a real quality stone because his aunt is a jeweler a he paid whole sale price. I love my ring.

I'm not 100% sure because I've never asked him but I think the center stone is around 2 carats and there are pave diamonds in a halo and on the band totaling another one carat. My hubby did an amazing job designing the ring and I love it
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@MamaMoose: @chopsuey119: WOW!!
Mine center is 1.5 with two smaller stones on each side on an eternity pave set band. TCW is 2, I love the dainty-ness of my ring. Plus the hubby designed/picked it out himself.

My center stone is 2.1 carats with a micropave band that adds another half carat (Modeled after the Tiffany Novo.) My wedding band is a 2 carat eternity band.
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
@LivsMama: uhhh I want a nice hefty eternity band like that so badly!! Hubs really didn't want me to get one because he felt like it overpowered my engagement ring so I got a very thin half eternity. I like it and all... but man I wish I just went for the big one!!
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
I think it's .60. It was my paternal Grandmother's engagement and wedding band.

lol I have no idea! I do know that it (along with my band) is beautiful!

Mine is a 1 carat center diamond with probably another carat of diamonds around the sides, it's a split shank with diamonds all down both sides. I love it, we picked it out together and it's exactly what I want. The only thing I would change is I want another band for after the baby is born to make it symmetrical.
pear / 1728 posts
@MamaMoose: When the jeweler suggested it and said the weight, I was like "no way, that would be huge" but the stones are each only about 3mm wide, so its not THAT hefty..not as much as you'd think it would be. There are just a lot of stones. I did have to add a super thin spacing band in between them though. The edges of the diamonds in the band were scratching the setting of my center stone (its a shared prong setting), so I had to put something there to keep them from touching. Its just a super thin (maybe 1mm wide) white gold band, but its saving my setting. Thats something else to consider with a bigger band.
That being said, my band is about twice as thick as my e-ring band, but I liked the contrast. I tried on the band that a mtched my e-ring, but the fit was so snug it made it look like a double banded e-ring with no wedding band, so I didnt like it. you can see my set here http://gallery.weddingbee.com/photo/our-beautiful-set

a little over a carat center stone, and then a carat halo setting, my wedding band is a .5 carat and then when LO was born I got the matching band for the other side of my e ring as a push gift.
