I was 8 with Charlie and 3 with olive. I can't believe I was only 3 with olive because I was in so much pain!!!! Of course I was in much more pain with Charlie though.
How much were you dilated?

I believe I was a 5. Just as they gave me some IV pain meds the anestigiologist came it, so I was really feeling good at that point.

I was 7. I wouldn't have gotten the epidural, but I was led to believe by the doctor that I would probably continue to progress very slowly. In reality, I was fully dilated and ready to push just 40 minutes after receiving my epidural.

I was a 7. I was kind of stalled there and once I finally relaxed with the epidural, progressed much more quickly from there.

I was a 7. After I got it I was fully dilated an hour later. I'm hoping with the next one I can go without the epidural.

I haven't given birth yet but was told to tell the nurses at check in if I plan to get one or am thinking about it. I didn't know you could still get one at 8 cm (haven't had birth classes yet!)

With my first I was checked moments after getting the epi, and I was fully dilated! So my guess is that I was like...9.5? Way past when I was supposed to get it, I think! And with my second my labour was too fast to get one!

Can you add a poll?
I was 7. And I really thought I wouldn't get one. Ah, well.

2 for me. But I had a bladder infection and they were about to start pitocin. Even my midwife told me I should get it right away so I could get some sleep since I hadn't slept the past two days cuz of the bladder infection...

8- I requested it at 5 in triage when they admitted me, but the anesthesiologist took over an hour to get there, so I requested IV meds too since it was taking so long. It hurt so, so bad.
My original plan was not to get an epidural if I was at an 8 and wanted one, also I wasn't going to get IV pain meds either... you get a whole new perspective once labor actually hits.
My husband was a genius not to remind me about my original plans, I would have done horrible things to him at that point.

I'm really not sure. It was ordered when I was 4 and soon after I got it, I was 8.

I was 8cm. The anesthesiologist was booked up to be in surgery and it was a full unit so that was my lazt chance!
I went in with an open mind about it but think god I did!! I was pushing for 2hrs +!

I think I was 5. Got it as soon as I got to the hospital since my contractions were right on top of each other and I had always planned on getting one.

I was a 3. Did it as soon as they let me. I knew I wanted one anyway, and it was already so painful!

I was at 7cm, and it slowed down my labor quite a bit. I was fully dilated 7 hours later.

I voted for 9, but I was actually at 10. I had a cervical lip that the doctor wouldn't let me push through because she was scared my cervix would rupture (yikes!). I couldn't control the pushing at that point though, so I needed something to relax.

Thanks for letting us choose multiple... my epidurals happened at 3cm, 6cm, and 9cm. Here's hoping this time around I only need one...

I should also add... my friend slowly went to 6 cm over 48 hours of going back and forth from home to the hospital (she really wanted to labor at home). Finally they convinced her to get the epidural so she could get some sleep, and she went from 6 cm to 10 in less than 15 minutes!!!

4 cm. 8 hours after my water broke, and about 4 hours after they started the pitocin.

2 cm.... Sad, I know, but I was in a lot of pain and I don't handle pain well at all (I throw up). I expected I would have to wait until I was further dialated, but the anesthesiologist came in almost right away.

I asked for one at 6-7 cm or so? But ended up not getting it because I was ready to push by the anesthesiologist arrived, half hour later.

Technically 3 cm, but more than likely, I was much further along. I was 3 when they checked upon arrival at hospital, but I didn't get the epidural until 2 hours later. After getting the epi, contractions slowed way down and were not peaking as high as before, thereby causing the midwife to think labour had stalled, but when they checked me next, I was already at 10! The midwife thinks in the two hours between being checked and when the epidural was given, I progressed quite quickly and was probably near 10 cm by the time the epi was administered.

I was 4 but they didn't check me until after they gave me the epidural because my OB writes the order so I can get it whenever I ask. I was doing fine until I stood up and had a big bought of back-labor (on top of my sciatic pain it was just too much).
