I'm thinking of just ordering 25 and going through my address book and playing the "Who's more important" game. Haha. I don't want to spend a fortune on cards.

40 picture cards and about 15-20 regular cards that may or may not have a 4x6 photo in them

2 sets of grandparents, my aunt, & my biological father all get sent in the mail. 2 more sets of grandparents and both sets of parents get a hand delivered card. That's it. I'm not rich, I have other people I'd rather buy actual gifts for. If you don't get one you probably see pics on FB or my mom sent you something so whatever lol this may change but this is only the second year I've really felt sending something out is expected of me & these are the only people I feel need a picture of us and/or an update on our lives.

I bought 40 but now I'm thinking I should have bought more. We sent 40 and had to leave people out. Now I'm getting cards from people I didn't send them to.

I just ordered 30 - nearly all of ours have to go overseas and postage is not cheap! I'm going through my address book and being a bit ruthless right now....

Bought 35, but there was a printing alignment error so they are reprinting and resending them. Now I have 35 that are fine with the exception of that small flaw so I'm going to try and send them all!

I ordered 40 and have sent out 25 so far. I always like to keep a few extra on hand in case people send me cards that I wasn't expecting!

30. I have one left over in case we get an unexpected card, but many of our friends don't send them (depressing!) so that's all we really need.

I bought 100 but only needed 71, I counted wrong. Opps! but I am going to send out a couple more. I had to order in sets of 25.

We sent 57. Of course, we had to buy 75, so now I have lots left over. But I refuse to send more than necessary.

I did 40 last year and it wasn't quite enough so I got 60 this year and I still have some to hold on to for people I've forgotten.

Holy crap, I feel like I need more friends and family now. after seeing these numbers. I only send out 15-18, I've never had to order more than 20.

Also have to buy in packs of 25 so I get 125, but I'm sending out about 115. I'm the crazy one!

50. DH has a huge family, but we still only send to VIPs lol. If you send us one we will send you one type of deal!

about 45, but if I went to that "second group" of people, I'd probably have to send about 100. We really just send to our closest friends and family.

I tend to order 50. This year I bought through Costco, 50 for $16.99. I know the quality won't be as good but when you factor in postage, Shutterfly/Tinyprints would have been about $100 for sending out 50 cards! I keep a spreadsheet address book and I actually mark who we get cards from, too. I tend to send out about 45 but there are always a couple I receive that I didn't think to send to. If I NEVER get a card in return (like for 3 years) and it is not an elderly family member, I don't send one. Probably a bit harsh but with the expense...
For context, my dad is from a family of six, and I grew up very close with all of my cousins on both sides, so just cousins/aunts/uncles alone are at least 25 of my cards!

I ordered 100 and sent out 96. I should've probably ordered more.
I keep track who sends us a card and if we haven't gotten one from them or haven't talked to them in years they get removed from the list.

I bought 50 photo cards and then sent another 20 regular cards with wallet size photos inside.
So, 70.

@travellingbee: I hate when that happens!
I ordered 40 expecting to have extras. Got a deal and only paid $14!

@Eminthevalley: yeah, I did TP and I'm determined to go a cheaper route next year. With discounts, 50 cards came to $64. With postage the the other 20 cards, I spent about $100. I'm going to pay attention to who sends us cards this year and try to maybe pare down the list!

Just send out 50 this morning. We just finished addressing the L section of our address book. I bought 100 this year, but last year only needed 75 ish.
apricot / 343 posts
@78h2o: It is so frustrating because you see 40% off and all the discounts, and it SEEMS like it's going to be cheaper!
