Officially 12. That's when we decided on adoption.

5 or 6. Endo pain was bad and we'd been really on point with timing and frequency, so, I knew we were getting out on the more worrisome end of the bell curve.

4 or 5 cycles, which took almost a year. My first 3 cycles off the pill were pretty much written off since 2 were 90 something day. I had one "normal" one, but I was out of town. Then the next 3 were normal and I was sure that would do the trick. But no. My OB insisted on Clomid, so I tried that to no avail, especially when the second round didn't even work and she told me I should go see an RE.

I wasn't discouraged until my cycles were clearly getting long and abnormal, which took around 4 months in to TTC. I prepared myself for TTC to take longer than I'd like but I wasn't prepared for a 140 day cycle and an IF diagnosis...

Depending on how you define cycle: 1-3. I've ovulated once in the 6 months we've been trying, but my OB's also induced a period twice in that time frame. I was confused at the 60-day mark and hopeful until the 100-day mark. Now, I'm disenchanted and frustrated.

It didn't take long. 3 months? Then after 6 months, I was really discouraged, then every month after that was worse up until I finally got the BFP.

At 3 cycles, I was thinking it wasn't going to be as easy as I thought. At cycle 5, I started to get worried, but was KU at the next cycle. I had a miscarriage a few weeks later, so since trying again, it wasn't until I passed my EDD that it became more soul crushing. That was about 13 months in.

Now at 17 months in, I'm extremely discouraged it will ever happen.

With DS it only took us 3 cycles (and still thought it took forever!) so when we didn't conceive n°2 after cycle 3 I was pretty upset. After 6 months I started to feel defeated. After 8 months I'd had enough and we took a break for month 9. The worst part was the intense feeling of failure every time I tested negative. But hopefully those days are past because I got a bfp last week!

4 I guess but really only because I'm older AND found out we have issues. Now I feel super defeated.

First breakdown at 6 months but got really discouraged around 8. When the 12th cycle failed it was tough. We are in cycle 15 and I actually feel much better. 13 to 15 I have been fine! We will see if it continues!

I can't remember the first time I felt discouraged. I for sure was upset by the irregular cycles and confusion that surrounded my first 8 months of TTC. Then I found out I had PCOS. It didn't make it easier, but I definitely held on to a lot of hope for the Clomid cycles that followed. When we hit the 12 month mark, I was definitely discouraged. And now, at 21 months TTC (with two months NTNP), I'm surprised I am just now going to see an RE next month for the first time and a little shocked we haven't just talked about adoption. I agree with @Mrs. Oatmeal: you just start to feel disillusioned by it all. It hurts less, like you force yourself to believe this isn't your reality. But it still sucks. I am definitely starting to feel like maybe it just isn't going to happen for us. @Crystal: Is adoption something you guys have talked about if it doesn't happen for you?

@Crystal: I guess I'm not certain we are ready to give up yet. But you know, I read somewhere that you are ready for adoption when you are more excited about being parents than you are about being pregnant. I am definitely more excited to be a mom than I am to be pregnant. I suppose we'll see what the RE has to say in December and depending on how many more things she wants to try, we might just have to start looking into adoption instead.

Worried after cycle 1, since it was super-short (22 days), saw my OB after cycle 3, pretty much frantic and a complete mess by cycle 6. Got my BFP on cycle 9 with the help of an RE and IUI.
Was over two years ago and I still vividly remember the panic and depression I felt about TTC. I hope it happens soon for all of you who are still waiting.

We have been trying since January, and I'm not too discouraged yet, because it feels like we have been making progress, even though I'm not pregnant. First, an ultrasound and blood work confirmed that there were no major red flags, then Prometrium re-triggered my period, now my cycle is starting to normalize again (over the past two months or so). So though we've been "trying" it kind of feels like we haven't really been trying since we couldn't really time things (and it seems likely that I wasn't ovulating for most of the year). There hasn't been a month when I really thought I could be pregnant, so I haven't had the emotional roller coaster. If it turns out that I'm still not ovulating/we still don't conceive now that I'm "back to normal"? That'll get disappointing real fast.

What is a little discouraging is the friends/family who've gotten pregnant since we started trying. I remember thinking when each one of them announced that surely I'd be pregnant by the time her baby came. One was born last month and one is due next week.
