I was shocked to hear that our town's public elementary school has 8 first grade classrooms this year. This is for a town of 10,000 people! We only have one public elementary school though.
How many first grade classrooms does your public school district have (understanding that some towns have multiple districts/schools).

My son's school has 6 first grade classrooms (120 students). Citywide, I have no idea. There are something like 8 elementary schools in this town, plus where we live there are 12 elementary schools, not including Catholic, Private and Charter schools.

There are 472 elementary schools and many of those have more than one class per grade, so 500+.
Not counting catholic or private schools.

Our district is huge so I have no idea about the district as a whole. The elementary school LO will go to has 5.

Our town has 3 elementary schools; DS1's school has 3 first grades. I'm not sure how many the other two elementary schools have.

Our district covers most of a three city area or about 150,000 residents. The district has about 23,000 students. 20 elementary schools that are K-6. Our school has 792 students. And there are 5 first grade classrooms.

@winniebee: well, there are 6 1st grade classes in one of the local elementary schools but we have 104 elementary schools in our county. 18 in my town.

@winniebee: I'm a part of a closed FB group for parents of school aged kids in my town and over the past year, I've learned so much, a lot of it was very surprising.

Our local school district has 106 elementary schools, so probably a lot of first grade classrooms, haha! That doesn't include charter schools which are becoming pretty popular in this area.
