Today is our first!

Today was our first. She only goes to school two days a week anyway, but it's been pretty mild as far as big snow fall anyway.

@winniebee: I actually was thinking they didn't need to cancel today when I woke up, but around 8 am it suddenly started coming down hard and just didn't stop all day.

@winniebee: Today was our second, but we didn't need it. I live in PA now, but am from Maine. Where in Maine are you?

Our daycare has closed two days this year due to snow.

@winniebee: Yup. Nine. To both. Kids will be in school well into June, until the 21st I believe. And they lost two fridays off as well.

And yes. Nine hours to get home. He left work at 4 pm and got home after 1 am. There was less than an inch of snow. But it started falling right at rush hour, and Portland, Oregon didn't want to use any salt on the roads due to environmental concerns. Instead they had thousands of cars idling on the freeway, heating the snow up just enough to ice the road over. There were still kids on school buses at 10 pm. Lots of angry people.

@ALV91711: Right? I felt so bad for those kids, and I'm sure their parents were livid. We usually only get snow once or twice a year here. And nobody knows how to deal with it, and the cities are never properly prepared, so everything shuts down. It's a bit ridiculous.

We've had snow, maybe 5 inches two weeks ago, but they don't seem to do snow days here. Public transit is still functional and that's how most kids get to school.
