(Rather uninteresting backstory: My d/w died after just over a year after we bought it. The wash motor is dead and the repair would be $6 less than it cost to buy the entire machine. It's not a super-expensive d/w, but one of the mid-range ones. I ran it daily on the lowest energy setting, and otherwise babied the thing. I cleaned the filters regularly, ran cycles to clean it, always loaded it correctly, etc. But I did run it essentially daily, and my friend suggested that's higher than normal usage.)

So, if you don't mind, please tell me how often you run your dishwasher! I want to know if I'm atypical among people with children.
