DS has 2 hooded towels. I had a towel and head towel. DH has his own set of towels--1 bath, 2 hand, 2 face. For guests we have 2 bath, 2 hand, 2 face. that's it! we wash once a week but the guest stay in the linen closet unless we have guests.

We probably only need 6 for DH and I. Since I only wash towels together, so I need enough for a full load.

We wash them about twice a week too, and I usually have them washed and hung back up within a few hours so we could get away with 3, plus one for a guest. However, we have probably 20 towels! We need to get rid of some.

DH could get by with one. I sometimes use 2 if it is cold out and I want one for my hair. Plus I would want 2 for guests. I would say 5 is the absolute minimum for adult towels. We have about 12 nice towels and then extra for stuff like toweling off the dog when it rains.

Oh wow... I do not was towels twice a week. I am not going to say how often (or not) they get washed. You people are cleaner than me

This thread has gotten me to think about our towel situation. I change them once a week. But we hardly do laundry and have piles of it. I have not thrown away a towel, ever. So as you can imagine, there's some funky ones in there that only get used when we're really behind on laundry. But we don't need that many towels and it's a brilliant way to save space! Those things are bulky!
