2 weeks at Christmas, 3 days at Thanksgiving, 1 week at Spring Break, any public school snow days (used or not) they close.

Never closed for a full week. Only closed for major holidays -- Christmas, Thanksgiving, Day after Thanksgiving, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, MLK, 4th of July...I think that's it. Open on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. We pay for those days.

Ours closes from Christmas Eve until the New Year and then all the stats throughout the year. We pay for anything they are closed.

Only 1 full week that we don't pay for, and regular holiday days that we do pay for.

Closed on five or six holidays but never an entire week. We have to paybut have the option of using credit days (we get 10 per year). I couldn't do closings for a week.. especially not multiple in one year.

I just pulled out the calendar and counted. They are closed 36 days of the 2015-2016 year.

HOWEVER. If we needed to work a holiday (which we often do because of time & a half) she'll stay open for us if we truly need it.

Wow. That is a lot and you have to pay? That stinks. Ours is closed the week of the 4th of July and the week between Christmas and New Year's and we don't have to pay for those weeks and the few other holidays they are closed.

Wow, 5 full weeks sounds like a lot! Ours closes between Christmas and New Year's, 2 days in the spring (Friday and Monday) and 2 days in the fall, right before Labor day, for teacher development, as well as any major holidays and snow days if the school district closes.

Ours is closed about 5 days at Christmas, one for labor day, one for spring break, july 4th, memorial day and I think that's it - so around 9 days

Our preschool is run by nuns and they don't really take breaks - literally only like, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, national holidays, etc. There are no like, week-long breaks.

Only national holidays. DH and I both WOH, and we could never have LO in a center with that much time off.

Closed all summer (mid-May to mid-August) with "summer care" that is more like daycare vs. preschool

We pay full monthly tuition during the closures. My only gripe is that we have classes on Monday and Tuesday, so we miss 4-5 more days because of holidays (compared to the other 3 year old class who go Thu/Fri).

@lamariniere: It's the same here with public centers.

We wouldn't be able to organize it so we're in a private daycare that only closes for holidays (which we have off anyways too) and for two weeks between Christmas and the New Year (this year it was 12/23-1/5). Additionally there are two teacher work days. We pay for all of it.

When my son was in daycare, it was closed only the last week of December, plus Federal holidays, which we paid for. Daycare workers deserve some paid time off as well, I don't know why it's such a shocking concept to be honest.

The whole month of August and at least a week at Christmas. Really hard on working parents so we band together and share babysitters (in our former life!)
