I'm trying to figure out how much I should spend. Ours is falling apart.
Bonus question - where did you get it from and did you have a coupon or get it on sale?

$25 at a thrift store. I do someday want to buy a beautiful, realistic, 9 foot, pre-lit tree. Eventually.

I bought a 9ft tree that is prelit at Lowes somewhere in the $250-$300 range.

We bought a prelit tree from Target on sale after Christmas. I am thinking it was in the $120 range, normally was $200ish? It's been a few years...

I think we got a pre-lit one from Lowe's for around $125 but we got it after Christmas!

We got ours from Target, I can't remember the price but it was def under $100 and on sale. I think it was a Black Friday sale.
Besides Lowes/Home Depot, I've seen fake trees at Joann and Michaels. They always have coupons so maybe check there~

We got ours at Target after Christmas. It said pre-lit on the box but it wasn't when we opened it up the next year. Wah wah! I think it was only ~$50.
I'd love to get a nicer one in a few years!

I'm in the market for a new one as well because ours is also falling apart and is not pre-lit (oh the horror).
I've been browsing flyers the past couple weeks and I think Spending between $100 - $200 is pretty reasonable for a really nice pre-lit tree (although, only 6.5 ft tall, but I don't need anything bigger).

I thinks ours was around $350-400. It's 9 ft tall and pre-lit. We got it from a local garden center.

We bought ours day after thanksgiving last year, it's a small prelit 6 ft tree, I think I paid less than $70 for it.

We got ours from Target. It's 8' and it isn't pre-lit. I think it was like $50 at the most.

I got a $20 small pre-lit one (but taller than me) a few years ago on sale at Walmart. I would be willing to spend $150 on a specific style new one, but I'm waiting a few more years to upgrade.
ETA: This is the one I am tempted to buy: http://www.wayfair.com/National-Tree-Co.-North-Valley-7.5-Spruce-Artificial-Christmas-Tree-with-Clear-Lights-NRV7-300-75-NTC1480.html

I always wait til after Christmas sales to buy one if I need one. DH wants a fresh tree this year and I still want to use my $50-60 tree that I got on clearance.

I splurged on one from Balsam Hill during one of their frequent sales, it's 6.5 ft, not pre-lit (I'm weird and like stringing lights) and I think it was about $300 sale price. I'm not totally sure it was worth the premium over Home Depot/Lowes trees but once it was up, it wasn't going back.

I think it was the $150 range on sale at target. 6 or 7 feet? We did not want a pre lit tree!

We got a prelit 7 ft skinny tree at JoAnn Fabrics for $75 on Black Friday. I wouldn't get a prelit one again... Half of the lights stopped working and I don't have the energy to figure out how to fix it!

Ours is 7.5 feet, maybe around $100?. We have higher ceilings now, I wonder if we should get a 9 foot one. Definitely spring for the pre-lit though, it's worth it.

My parents have a 9 foot tall pre lit tree they bought at costco for $300. It's beautiful. Just wish it had the same pine smell as fresh trees.

I'm super lucky that I snagged a nice prelit 9 ft tree from Sears for 90% off after Xmas 2 years ago! I think it was $35 or $40.

We go ours on sale at Menard's.
It's 9 feet and not pre lit. There are three sections of the tree, and you don't have to put the individual branches in. They fold out so you just shape them a bit
ETA: I was adamant that we not get pre lit because my parents' pre lit lights went out and we ended up having to get a whole new tree. Also, the ones where you have to put each individual branch into the "trunk" are horrible to put together. It takes forever, and isn't worth it to me. Plus, I'd always end up with way more scratches on my arms with that kind!

@mrs scrapbook: ours is the same!
@pinkcupcake: I wish we cold get a real tree. But DH is really allergic.

I spent $30 last year on a prelit 4 foot tree from Target in the Black Friday sale. It's nice & all I could really justify spending at the time!

@.twist.: oh the horror! Ha!
@Radish: that tree is beautiful. Could it really be that full in person?? @creativemomma15: I think 3/4 of the lights in our current tree are out....

We normally do a real tree, but since we will be out of town for Christmas this year I bought a 7 foot white pre-lit one off of a friend for $30.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
I bought it for $50 off Craigslist! From some people down the street! 7 feet tall! Not prelit, I like to do my own lights. Real trees aggravate my allergies and I don't want my cats eating the needles

We scored a nice 7 foot pre-lit one at an awesome consignment store near us that does a big Christmas section each year. It was $50.

$39.00 from JoAnn's. I bought it on Black Friday a couple of years ago.

$279 from the website Christmas Tree Market. 9' tall and pre-lit. I love it!

we no longer have it, it didn't make the priority list when moving, but we actually got ours for about 15. It was bought in November when Zellers was clearing out last years display trees for huge discounts.

I actually JUST bought mine from kmart and with sale + coupon + shopyourway points it was about $50 It just arrived in the mail today so I am going to set it up tomorrow just to make sure that it looks good, but it has good reviews. I can update tomorrow! I am really excited because this is our first full-size tree.

Look I probably spent 60 bucks max! & that included the 6 ft pre-lit tree & box of 80 count shadder proof ornaments (I have a thing for changing the style of my tree... this year I was thinking leopard print.... any thoughts?!?).... Walmart is life!

@pinkcupcake: you want that great pine smell? Glade has a great pine & apple cinnamon duo kit ! It smells like grandma's love!!

Our 7.5' tree was $115 at a local home & garden store. I avoided pre-lit... my mom's died after 2 years, and it wasn't cheap!

I think our 7' pre lit tree was $125ish on Black Friday at lowes 4 yrs ago? Still going strong. I love the pre lit tree.
nectarine / 2079 posts
@mediagirl: not sure, but it has some good reviews (though they tend to be more about shipping). I really want a spruce tree but they are hard to find in stores. I prefer the coloring on them.
Btw, if you did decide to go the wayfair route i have a 20% off coupon code that is good through 11/13 that I can send you.

Ours was in the less than $100 range because we got it at the after-Christmas sales. It was probably right around $99.99, so a little more after tax, and we would have gotten a cheaper one (it was a 9 foot pre-lit really nice one at Lowes) but it was already one of the only ones left!! My parents got my husband (then fiance) a Lowes giftcard for Christmas so it was just tax out of pocket, which was nice because we were pretty broke and engaged and would never have been able to afford it otherwise!

I got mine on sale at Kmart last year for like $50. 6', not pre-lit. My SIL had a pre-lit one, and like half the lights went out the second year. I prefer to string my own lights on anyway...makes it feel less fake to me
