DS goes to an in-home daycare for 8 hours (but she is open for 9) and we pay $25 a day which is about $2.87 an hour for our infant. I almost feel bad!
What about you?

$9.9 @ center.
ETA: Man I am jealous of all these low rates!

$3.84/ hour at a Center and she's 2 1/2
When she was an infant it was over $5

$4.89 for my almost 4 year old and $4.57 for 19m, (includes sibling discount).

We pay around $8 including a LOT of financial aid for my 3 year old (it's normally closer to like $13?), and will pay $9 for my infant at an in-home next year.

At K's in home daycare, we paid about $5/hr. Seeing it broken down like that makes me cringe a little- even at a centre, it wouldn't be more than $6-7/hr. Wow!

$3.58/hr for full-time (9-10 hours a day) including two meals and a snack. He's in the preschool class now, it was more like $4.80/hr when we first started him in the toddler room (which included two meals, a snack, and unlimited diapers/wipes).
My mom watches DD

About $13/hr for the 1 year old and $11/hr for the 2.5 year old. They go to a Montessori center.

Only $2/hour. Our daycare is so cheap, I feel bad sometimes too! DH is always telling me to over-pay her if we pick DS up early, but even when I do that she just credits it for the next week. AND we only supply diapers, no wipes or food!
We are so lucky though!
In our area most rates range from $2.25 up to $3.50 an hour I believe for a center.

I think it ends up being about $13/hr for a toddler in a Montessori center.

$4.40/hr for infant
$4.10/hr for preschool (includes sibling discount)
Total: $8.50/hr at center

I've never thought of it this way! We pay about $82 per day, so just over $9 an hour.

$17 /hour for our nanny regardless of whether she has one or both kids.
DS1 Montessori preschool works out to something like $12/hour.
I get sick when I think of how much we pay for child care!

$15/hour for nanny. Daycare here is $80-$100 /day.
$10/hour for preschool

We paid $17/hour for daycare
We now pay $7/hour for (half day) preschool

We pay a bit more hourly ($10.20) bc DD only goes 3 days a week. It's actually a monthly rate so I added up the number of days she went in March and used that to calculate, though other months it's fewer days!
The other 2 days are free grandmacare so it evens out a bit! If we included those free days it'd only be 5.75. Thank goodness for Grandma!!

We just started using a sitter. She has a small in home day care (her two kids plus my friends daughter) and she takes my son when I have appts and such. She charges me $5 an hour with no minimum, but today he was just there an hour and I gave $10 because $5 seems too little!

We pay $900/month, and she's typically there for 8.5 hours, so $5.88/hr assuming she goes five days a week every week (which she doesn't between sick days, holidays and days we keep her home).

I think it works out to about $4.75/hr. $1016/month for M-F 7:00am-5:45pm. He's only there 7:45-5:30 and often spends Friday with grandma, but full time is the only option and it is pretty affordable relatively speaking.

We use an in-home daycare provider. Their hours are 730am to 5pm and they provide lunch and snacks. Their rate is $250 a week, so it breaks down to $50 a day.
But they also take 2 weeks of vacation a year, and they take all major holidays and Good Friday. And we have to pay for any days DS is out sick.
DS is usually there from like 830am-430pm, so I guess its like $6.25 an hour?

I think our daycare cost works out to be about $11 an hour. We love our daycare but I keep thinking about how much cheaper an in home daycare would be!
pomegranate / 3192 posts
Wellll the daily rate is $100/day in the 3-5 room, but we are still in the toddler room for another month. Right now we pay $985 for 3 days/week, so I guess it works out to about $9/hr but he's never there for the full day (7:55am-5:30pm) more like 9am-4pm.

$43/day for a full day of preschool/daycare. The centre is open 11 hours so it would be $4/hour. But I never send him that long obviously so I'd say I spend closer to $7/hour.
I've had nannies and babysitters before that have ranged from $13-$15/hour.

$17/hr for a part time nanny. But we are in an expensive city.
Even just a date night sitter is $20/HR plus cab fare home!

Days when both girls are with the nanny, it's $18, the other 3 days a week when one girl is with the nanny and the other is at pre-school, we're paying the equivalent of $23/hour.
I'm just a public school teacher, so that gets a big fat =( =( from me.

I voted between 5 and 10, for situations when we used a daycare and a standalone preschool. If I really wanted to be precise, I would have added in the free care that we get from my parents.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@oliviaoblivia: $15/hr would actually be more expensive for us than $100/day. $100/day is only $500/week, but $15/hr for 50 hours (which is how much my kids are in daycare) is $750/week. I'm guessing you're not paying for 50 hours though!
pomelo / 5720 posts
$17/hr for our nanny, regardless if it's one or both. Preschool ends up being something like $8/hr.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@oliviaoblivia: OH!!! Didn't realize that $100/day was per kid! That makes all the difference! Yikes!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@LatteLove: I was struggling with picking in-home vs center too knowing how much cheaper in-home is... But in the end we went with a center and although it's so expensive, I just value what a center offers so much more in the end. Not to say I won't change my mind when I have to have 2 in daycare!

We use a center, and are allowed 50 hrs week (10/day). They're usually only there 9 hrs but using the 50 hour number since that's what we pay for.
Son is in older toddlers - 3.33/hr. and daughter (1 yr old room) - 4.32/hr. so combined, $7.65/hr.

My toddler is about five dollars an hour and my infant it's like six or seven?

Right now we pay $320/week for my toddler. He goes about 9 hours a day so it works out to $7.11/hour.

$2.50 an hour for our 2.5 year old son. Our new baby will be $3 an hour until he is 2 years old. I feel bad it is so low (especially since my daycare provider is my aunt- she has an in home daycare). I make sure he gets at least 40 hours for the week, even if we will be gone on Friday or something because I know she relies on us for her income.
