We are in a nanny share with one other family, and we each pay approx. $8/hr. (I think it's actually something like $8.07/hr, ha!)

$45 a day for private in-home care, and he can stay 7-5.

We start in 2 1/2 weeks, but the rate is $45 per day for in-home daycare. It works out to be $4.75 an hour. There is oversight by an agency, so the daycare lady doesn't even get all that! I feel little bad about it. She has 3 kids in her care.

We don't have full time childcare because MIL was watching them for 2-4 weeks at a time but when MIL is not here, we pay a nanny between $16-25 an hour for our 11 month old twins.

I am considering looking into daycare in a few months and I'm wondering how much it would cost.

Our drop off and pick up times vary based on our schedule, but using 50 hours as an average week we pay $5.70/ hour. The daycare is open from 6 am to 6:30 pm.

Our preschool / daycare charges $6.13 an hour incl sibling discount but our rate is further discounted because we're military and we pay via Internet banking.

All up, we pay about $165 per week for 25 hours of childcare (so a total of fifty hours for two kids) because my big girl is entitled to eighteen hours of free childcare through the government.

I voted under $5, but I did the math wrong. We pay about $6 an hour - $240 a month, he's there from 7-5 (although they're open 6:30-6:30).

We send him four days a week, which is the same price if we send him five. He's preschool age, so we spend about $34/day.
She Is the least expensive I've seen in my city!
His first daycare (center) was $45 day for a two year old.

About $8.15/hour for a home daycare. $65/day and she's usually there for 8 hours 😕

$4.75 (CDN) an hour if she's there 730-430 but I often drop off later or pick up earlier. It's 43$ a day regardless.

It works out to $9.75/hr! Luckily he only goes 2 days a week.

We pay flat monthly and weekly rates to our daycare and our sitter even though we don't always use all the time.

Our daycare/preschool's rate works out to $11.84/hour for five half days including before care (dropoff as early as 7am). It would be $13.04/hour without before care (8:30 dropoff). The rate per hour goes up for fewer days per week but we use all five.

We pay our sitter $14/hr for three afternoons per week, and my parent watch him for free two afternoons per week.

So, the average technically works out to $10.08/hr for 60 hours of coverage per week, but we never drop him off at exactly 7am -- and a couple times per week I drop him off around 8:30 -- and I almost always get home earlier than 7pm. If I don't include the free grandparent care, then the average for the paid time is $12.61/hr. And realistically it's more like $14.40/hr if I divide by the amount of hours we actually use rather than what we are eligible to use. But we need flexibility for earlier drop off and later arrival because some days we do need to use it even if it's not our standard routine.

@Anagram: Are you switching to public preschool soon?

If we have a second child, we will need another nanny but I think it will work out so that T will start free public preschool around the same time. So our childcare expenses will go up (since the nanny will have two charges instead of one) but hopefully not too dramatically since we will drop daycare and avoid paying for double coverage.

We pay a flat monthly fee at our center, but if I do the math based on the typical number of hours she usually spends there (about 10.5 hours per day), that works out to just above $5 per hour. Definitely on the cheap end for our area, it's a phenomenal deal IMO.

I just did the math. $13.23 per hour when there are 20 open days per month. We pay a babysitter $15 per hour for date nights. (Plus usually a little tip too)
