If you are not particularly close with the parents/child, but say they invited the whole daycare?
We go to so many birthday parties now that I keep gifts to $20, and $40 if we're closer.
What about you?

If it were someone not very close, maybe $10-$15 and someone close $25-$45.

Under $15...depending on how much ds likes the kid (that also determines if we even go! lol)

We spend $50 for close, $100 for super close (like family, my BFF's kiddos), and around $20-25 for not-so-close.

$20 max for a day care friend...but most of our day care parties are no gift (except a few families in the day care and then everyone is annoyed they have to bring a gift).

Not a daycare friend, but we were just invited to a birthday party for a friend that we're not particularly close to. I only spent $10 per kid (double birthday party).
But I made a personalized gift. It's a princess fort kit and superhero fort kit. On the bags I put his initial instead of the S for spiderman and her initial in a tiara. Inside I put things you need to make a fort, like sheets, clothes pins, rope, etc, all in appropriate colors (pink for her, red for him). And then I also included activities to do in the fort, like glow sticks and arts and crafts. I found everything at the dollar store and used things I already had.
