I'm curious how much others spend on Halloween costumes for their LO. Is there an amount you won't go over? Do you spend whatever, and let them wear it for play afterwards? Do you make your own?
The one costume I'm looking at for my oldest is $30, but she will wear it to play in afterwards. LO2 hasn't fully decided what she wants to be yet.

So far we haven't spent much. Years 1 and 2 were hand-me-down costumes from a cousin. Year 3 was Thomas, which I made, though I did have to buy paint and a couple other craft pieces for it. Year 4 is Thomas again, so no money needed! But I think in the future, I'll buy their costumes and just let them play in them after... maybe keep it around $30?

I spent $50 on a PBK costume when she was 1... made her wear it again the next year. I won't spend that much again. My mom got DD2 a costume at the thrift store for $6 this year.

I spent about $50 for his first Halloween costume - my husband really wanted him to be Eeyore. For his second year I went to the secondhand store and spent $10 on a monkey costume. Secondhand store is my plan again this year, although I'm not sure how it's going to go because he's a lot more opinionated this year. I might get a few in his size and let him pick from them.
W will only be 7 months so I'll just see what they have in his size and pick what I think is the cutest, something that goes with big brother if possible.

I thought my son would be into dress up play, so when he wanted to be a police officer 3 years ago, I spent about $20 on a realistic looking costume. He wore it for two Halloweens and then I donated it to his former preschool because he didn't look at it in between.
This year, I spent $25 on a firefighter costume he wanted from Costco. I think that's my max.

I'm kind of Halloween crazy. I don't like super cheap looking costumes but hate spending more than $50.

I got a PBK pumpkin costume for her first Halloween- it's the pumpkin so I think it was $25. I'll put her on it again for pumpkin patch photos this fall. Last year I got her a bumblebee costume at a consignment store for this year- it was like $10 but o got it for free with my store credit.
I have family that sew so anything elaborate in the future ills ask for help. I'd spend more if it's something she will use for dress up.

just spent $15 for LO2's costume. for LO1, i bought halloween onesies/jumpers from old navy for about $15 each. last year he was a firefighter--we had a firefighter rain jacket already and a hat from some event we went to. this year i will probably pay about $30 for LO1's construction worker costume.

Ideally I only want to spend $15-$20. Realistically it's more towards $20-$30, especially when kids have a say in what they want to be for Halloween.

I try to stay around the $20 mark. I usually have luck with a sale at costume or great finds at Marshall's.

I live for Halloween. But every year is different. Last year I made my kids costumes and probably spent $20 total. This year I'm buying 1 and making the other and will probably spend $150.

Probably $40 each or under? We have a trunk or treat at daycare, trunk or treat with our church group and actual Halloween. So they get plenty of wear out of it just during the holiday, not counting dress up later on.

So far, I'm just in it for the price of fabric, so probably under $30 each year? I'm getting a lot of use out of my fabric this year, as she's getting a separate Paw Patrol birthday dress in addition to her Halloween costume.

Maybe $20-30 total for one costume, but Ive done things she can wear later- like last year I bought a tiger hoodie for her costume but then she also wore it as a sweatshirt later. And a black tutu that still gets played with. The only pet of her outfit that were only for Halloween were her $6 tiger tights. I'd rather put a costume together with pieces that can be reused throughout the year even if it means I'm paying a few extra dollars up front.
This is when I still have a big say in the costume though. I'm sure those days are numbered.

For the 16m old who doesn't have a say, $12. For the very opinionated 4.5 year old who will only be satisfied with this particular rainbow unicorn costume, $80. It's the most I've ever spent on a costume and it makes me a little nauseous, but she'll be in her glory.

$30 or so.
My oldest is going to be a donut, and her donut costume was $20. But then I am going to buy a matching long sleeve and pants to go under it, and that will be an additional $15 or so.
My dd2 is going to be Belle, and her costume was $30. She also wants a belle crown ($5) and maybe gloves ($5) to go with it.
Last year we thrifted our costumes and I only spent $15 for two awesome costumes!

I spent $25 last year on his Daniel tiger costume.
This year I told him I'd dress as a skeleton and so he said that's what he wants too. I may diy his using black sweatpants and black top. But I'll need to purchase some makeup and my top (I'm gonna do a pregnant skeleton shirt)

We have historically spent about $30.
Last year and this year DD1 wants to be princesses - she already has the costumes...so free! I may get her some accessories this year...
DD2 I spent $15 (disney sale)....

The past 3 years I made her costumes and spent around $25. This year she saw a rapunzel dress in the store and has been obsessed, so we bought it. With that and the hair we are probably more on the $35-$40 range this year. Dd2 will be diy pascal, so I'm estimating $15-20.
