We usually set aside $200 a month for our 3 dogs (we set up small funds for each of our budget categories so we can use that money each month). That usually ends up being enough for food/treats, grooming, and vet bills but lately, we've had a few unexpected vet bills and our doggie fund has been exhausted 
Wondering if it's time to up our monthly contribution...

Just about $40 for food. But I guess if I had to average out her vet bills in the past year it would be more than $200:month.
I read in the other thread you have a budget category for your pets. That's a good idea. Where does that many reside? Just in your checking account ?

vet: hmm..well probably $500 per year because we have to get their teeth cleaned every two years now + yearly visits (teeth cleanings run about 400 per cat, so I just amortized that on a yearly basis)
thankfully (knock on wood) we haven't had any emergencies. Like when the sweet little asshat cat ate a string and gave herself a small bowel obstruction. Good thing I love her. No really, I do. Ranking in household goes LO, cat 1, cat 2 (asshat), DH. just kidding. sort of

I budget about $75 a month but lately it's been more than that due to vet bills. Our kitty is in kidney failure and has been to the vet several times the past few weeks and will need fluid injections probably for the rest of her life.
So this is a good reminder that I should budget more for the time being...

$35 each for pet insurance and $30 for food. Kenneling is more but it depends on travel.

My childhood dog (chihuahua) went into kidney failure when she was 13 but injections saved her life and she lived for 4 more years! I hope your kitty has many more years left. I think as our pets age, we have to reasses how much we set aside for them @Littlebit7: lol I totally understand
I tell my dogs they're lucky I love them and will do anything for them I amortize our bills throughout the year and just avg it out to get the $200/month, but I think our vet bills are getting higher as they age their teeth cleanings are typically $250 but the last few have involved extractions so have been in the $500 range @regberadaisy: we have mini sub account categories set up in our main checking account. (for example, pet, car insurance, household goods, food, Etc). Each month I put money into each account - usually I average what we spend throughout the year to get a monthly amount we should be budgeting for. It helps a lot because when it's time to pay a big bill, like car insurance or my contacts ($800!!!), we've been setting money aside little by little each month so it doesn't hit us all at once and leave us scrambling to fill it.

$160 on dog food, etc for our 2 girls. Our mutt could literally eat anything, but our pure bred golden retriever is allergic to grain. As a result, she has to have high-falutin ($$$) doggie chow.

One large dog. About $40 in food but that lasts us a while because he gets a lot of table food.

We spend $70 a month on food; she is on a special prescription food for bladder health. She can't really eat anything else, so we literally don't buy any treats. We used to bathe her ourselves, but after DD, we get her bathed once a month for like $35?

Only a couple of dollars on food and filters for our goldfish. We have a low maintenance pet.

ETA: You can also just keep a lump sum of all of your savings in one account and just on paper (spreadsheet) divide it into your subaccounts. -

Just pet food and nail clippings at the groomer. We keep a sinking fund that we throw money into each month to cover unexpected vet bills, flea treatments, heartworm, and annual checkups. I think I calculated that we spend about $1000 a year for our one dog.
ETA: We use YNAB (You Need a Budget) software for our budget and it lets us make as many different categories as we want, which avoids having to make a million sub accounts in our banking. I use YNAB to track our pet expenses fund. Just another suggestion on saving for future pet (or other) expenses!

I think her bag of food is $60 a month. But she has vet care randomly that is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Dogs are expensive time wise and finance wise! She is a wonderful dog, though

We put $300 into our dog account every month. (We use YNAB too to keep it separate). Our monthly cost for our two dogs is very low, just Kirkland brand food from Costco, maybe $30 per month. I get free treats and flea/heartworm treatments and sometimes food from my mom (who gets them free from her work). All the extra rolls over for vet bills and emergencies.
When DH and I were DINKs, we spent A LOT on doggy daycare, but now DH works from home and is able to get them the exercise they need.
We travel frequently and have to board them (and that's when they usually get groomed, it's included) but those costs fall under our travel budget category.

We spend $13 on pet insurance and about $60 every 2 months for luxurious dog food and treats. Then once a year we spend about $150 on vaccinations/licenses, and then maybe twice a year there's a few days of boarding involved. I would say overall, it comes out to about $85-100 a month average?

Vet bill annually is around $100-150 depending on what vaccines she is due for.
To kennel her is $20/night...we probably kennel her 10-20 nights per year...depending on our trips and in law support!
